Is anyone familiar with this website? It doesn't have the most "professional" look and the comments to these songs are extremely sparse.

I presume nobody.
Some of their comments are casual for sure, but IMO that's part of the website concept.
Do their alexa rank (circa 500,000th worldwide) makes them sufficiently regarded to be included on Discogs?

I can't speak for them... :D

The Alexa rank is surprisingly good if, as you say, nobody here is familiar with the website.

I just checked the Linkedin page of the website owner, François Grimpret. He has written a book about Rock music (http://www.camionblanc.com/detail-livre ... st-633.php), studied contemporary history at La Sorbonne where he has written essays about Music (Janis Joplin, the counterculture, grunge music...) and worked for Topito (a well-known website in France).

He says that there are 110.000 visitors on his website each month in 2014.

If you have Linkedin, here is his profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/fran%C3%A7o ... t-a6195258

Pretentious or not, eligible or not please post the site's year-end top 10, even beyond the 1960's. Surprisingly, I dig all the french songs included here.

Thanks EmilienDelRey! I might include that all-time list.

I don't think I will include the year lists though. From what I understand the titles are "The top 10 songs that marked the year". I think they are recaps of songs that was popular in France, rather than lists of the best music. Or how would you otherwise explain these selections from 2004:

http://www.zicabloc.com/chansons-2004

1. Les Choristes, Vois sur ton chemin
2. Kyo, Le Chemin
3. K-Maro, Femme like you
4. Black Eyed Peas, Shut up
5. Aventura, Obsesion
6. Placebo, The bitter end
7. Corneille, Parce qu’on vient de loin
8. Calogero feat. Passi, Face à la mer
9. O-Zone, Dragostea din tei
10. Francis Cabrel, Bonne nouvelle

It is indeed. Almost every song is either highly acclaimed or has never appeared in any other critics' lists (even though I have several lenghty French chansons lists in my spreadsheet). No less than half of the top 20 has never appeared in other critics' lists, see list below.

1. The Divine Comedy | Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World
4. J.P. Nataf | Les Lacets
5. Saez | Cigarette
8. Bernard Lavilliers | L’amour et la mort
9. Miossec | Que devient ton poing quand tu tends les doigts
12. Sloy | You Cry
13. Joseph Arthur | Honey and the Moon
14. Les Thugs | As Happy as Possible
16. Hole | Softer, Softest
19. Jean-Jacques Goldman | Quand la bouteille est vide
26. Cage the Elephant | Aberdeen
27. Buddy Holly | Dearest (Ummm Oh Yeah)
29. Babyshambles | Unstookie Titled
33. Manu Chao | Minha Galera
45. Renaud | Welcome Gorby
49. Les Innocents | Les remorques
56. Chokebore | Valentine
57. Johnny Hallyday | Adeline
61. Indochine | Des fleurs pour Salinger
62. Brenda Lee | Always on My Mind
65. Cat Power | What Would the Community Think
67. Herbert Léonard | Tu ne pourras plus jamais m’oublier
70. John Cale | Hanky Panky Nohow
72. Syd Matters | To All of You
74. Foo Fighters | Exhausted
77. Kent | Celsius
78. Joe Dassin | Dans les yeux d’Émilie
80. Patrice | Shine on My Way
81. Matisyahu | Silence
82. Freddie Scott | (You) Got What I Need
83. Cake | Open Book
84. The Go-Betweens | Karen
89. The Little Rabbits | One, Two, Me and You
91. The Ting Tings | Silence
96. Arch Woodmann | Tiny Dangers
98. Watermelon Club | Spread
99. Boochon | Ton nez, ton cou, ton parfum
100. Vera Cruz | Ainsi soit-il

I'm unfamiliar with most of these songs. It would be great if someone (French) could confirm that there are not a lot of "jokes" in this list.

Of all the Michael Jackson tracks, "Will You Be There"? There also are tracks that have received very mild acclaim thus far (for instance, Mariah Carey's "Heartbreaker," which I'd hardly consider one of her best- those verses sound like she's sleepwalking through em, and the beat itself is similar to "Fantasy," even though they sample different tracks).

I don't like "L'Idole des jeunes" or Johnny's yéyé period as a whole, but that's a tribute I'm OK to pay if it means "Demain c'est loin" gets in :D This track is the all time masterpiece of French hip-hop.
