In the July 12-26, 2007 issue of Rolling Stone, the magazine celebrated its 40th anniversary, as well as the 40th anniversary of the "Summer of Love" by compiling the 40 essential albums of 1967. The package was written by Robert Christgau and David Fricke. These albums are listed according to the months in which they were released.
