I'm confused about the criteria for North and South. I thought it had to be North and South America, but why is there an overlap then? Are there two separate VH1 channels for North and South America that both included all kinds of Latin American music in their lists?

Alaska y Dinarama are also in both lists with “Ciudad De Pobres Corazones”, but they are Spanish. Alaska was born in Mexico though. Do you think that's why they are included? Or is Spanish music included (but genreally ignored)?

It's the same channel, but I think there is an overlap because the lists were made by different people. I guess they were looking for something like the best songs from those that were most played. This means that they did not take into account the place in which the songs were created. And yes, as you say, both have all kinds of music from Latin America and Spain:

Soda Stereo and Charly Garcia are from Argentina, but its popularity was such that also reached North America. Just as Luis Miguel and Emmanuel, who are from Mexico, but they were also popular in South America. And in both lists there are bands and artists from Spain too, as La Union, and José Luis Perales. Both fully Spanish. ¡Olé! It is the same with Alaska and Dinarama, as you pointed out. Although “Ciudad De Pobres Corazones” is a song by Fito Páez. (Great song, by the way.)

Due to the nature of these two lists, I guess in case you decide to including them in AM, it would be like two different lists, right? If yes, this will make those songs that appear in both lists have some advantage, but I guess this is okay. Not many good songs that are not written in English manage to be popular in different world regions.

It's North and South because Vh1 Latin America has two different broadcasting according to regional division. North has Mexican editorial and South has Argentinean editorial. They are including all Spanish language hits that according to their respective editorial consider the most representative of the decade. Many songs are the same because were international hits (through all the spanish language region). Other are more local hits. But at the end, it was an editorial decision.
