Post by Petri »

Time to start the final vote!

Attached is an Excel file with the 118 selected films. Please rank the films that you have seen from this list and submit it by email to me at popelton (at) gmail (dot) com.

I'd appreciate it if you don't delete any rows in the Excel file when you return it. The deadline is September 30.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate.

Have fun!

If anyone else uses Letterboxd, I made a list to make it easier to narrow this down to films you still need to see:

Am I right in thinking anyone can vote in this, not just those who have voted in the individual year polls?
All I got inside is vacancy!

Less than ten days to vote. If you need some extra days I can extend the deadline a bit.
So far I've received three ballots (from The_Claw, mileswide and bonnielaurel).

Officially the last day to vote!
So far I have received seven lists from The_Claw, mileswide, bonnielaurel, Michel, Gillingham, whuntva and BleuPanda.
I probably won't have time to start the countdown this week (or at least not before weekend) so you will have some extra days to vote).
I hope that at least all the regular voters will participate. Everyone else (who has watched movies from 1950s) is also welcome to vote!

I don't know if it'd be worth posting a reminder in the main music forum? Even if we get a few quick lists that way, we're bound to get some people who have seen more of the nominees than my paltry tally of 10 (of course, I acknowledge there's also eleventy other polls occupying people's time + attention, above all the AT albums one).
All I got inside is vacancy!

I had planned on participating, but I won't.
The AT albums list used all the capabilities for ranking I've had :( . Ranking really isn't my favorite thing to do, especially not with a bunch of movies I haven't seen for a long time. I'd probably put Ace in the Hole in the Top 5, but I haven't seen it for eight or nine years, when I was a teenager, so I don't really know if I would like it now; considering that my opinion of Tarantino seems to have shifted dramatically in a few years, I wouldn't be surprised if some of my perceived favorites from the 50s weren't favorites anymore.

But I'm definitely looking forward to the results :D . Thanks for running this poll; I made some very nice discoveries along the way.

Thanks for reply. I understand that. It is difficult to say how good a movie you have love it / hate it as a teenager would be today. I had seen some of the Disney poll movies when I was 6 years old so only the good feeling guide me to choose their placement on my list.
Usually I rank the movies in quite fast pace. I divide all movies in five or six groups (from A (the best of the best) to F (not a fan)) and then rank the movies inside the group. Then I recheck the whole list couple of times and that's it. I have noticed that some movies that I have given 8 on IMDb are higher on my final list than some that have 9 points and even my yearly poll #2 movie can beat #1 movie of the same year on the final list (although I haven't watched neither of them in years). So my ranking depends much on the day.

No worries. If you want to vote. I can wait a day or two. I can also recount the list if I start today and you submit your list tomorrow.
