Hello! I thought that a poll like this would be fun!

Please rank every Marvel Cinematic Universe film that you have seen! Any that you don't include on your list will be given an average score, so make sure you rank all of them that you've seen! That's these, if you needed a reminder:

01 | Iron Man | 2008
02 | The Incredible Hulk | 2008
03 | Iron Man 2 | 2010
04 | Thor | 2011
05 | Captain America: The First Avenger | 2011
06 | The Avengers | 2012
07 | Iron Man 3 | 2013

Definitely used the link that ValenN put on the other thread, I guess it’s no surprise that the movie most divorced from the stories of the rest of the franchise at the time ended up being my favorite, regardless of how great most of those other films are.

2. Iron Man
3. The Avengers
4. Avengers: Endgame
5. Black Panther
6. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
7. Spider-Man: Homecoming
8. Thor: Ragnarok

I feel like there’s always something marvel playing in my house. The only movie I feel the need to watch before making a list is Iron Man 2, which I don’t think I’ve ever watched in its entirety...

I should probably watch the Incredible Hulk too, but I definitely don't feel a strong desire to...

I've decided years ago not to watch any more Marvel movies because even the best of them are just average. I made an exception for Black Panther because it made such a big bang and I was rewarded with one of the worst films I've ever seen, so I have no desire to see any of the ones I'm missing.

1 | Iron Man
2 | Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3 | Guardians of the Galaxy
4 | The Avengers
5 | Iron Man 2
6 | Avengers: Age of Ultron
7 | Thor: The Dark World
8 | Iron Man 3
9 | Black Panther

Not a conscious decision, I don't watch a whole lot of films anyway. In my meagre defence, my list would look a tad less pathetic if the pre-MCU Spider-Man movies were taken into account as I'd chuck in the first 2 installments from the respective Tobey Maguire + Andrew Garfield series.

Why?
I just realized that I didn't like them a lot because they always seem to take themselves so incredibly seriously. Superhero movies work best (for me) if they explore some theme (like The Dark Knight does with justice) or are just mindless fun (like Raimi's Spider-Man movies).
The Marvel movies I've seen grew considerably more convoluted to try to accomodate all the stuff they need to fit in their movies to keep them in the shared universe. I'm also generally not really interested in a bunch of "Übermenschen" saving the galaxy.

Regarding Black Panther:
I already knew that the MCU movies were not for me, but I decided to watch it anyway, because it was incredibly well received and got good notices even from people who normally wouldn't like this kind of film. I didn't go in expecting to dislike it; my expectation was a better-than-average superhero movie that wouldn't thrill me, but would be fine. But over the course of the movie I realized a bunch of issues that I couldn't ignore.
It's important to note, regarding these issues, that I wouldn't care for them that much in a different movie. I don't care about it in a fantasy movie and I wouldn't care about it in most superhero movies. But Black Panther tries to make a case for itself as socially concious and dealing with colonialism et al., so I need to treat this different from a movie that just tries to be mindless fun.
I also have seen the movie only once, so I can't remember everything exactly, and for a detailed description of my problems, I would need to do more research. So just a few points:

1. Wakanda is a totalitarian country and everybody is fine with it. This is really my primary criticism and I don't understand how people have not talked about how horrible this political system is. And the ones who do discuss it, dismiss it either with: "Not important in a superhero film" or, worse, "If it works for them, it's fine". It's really not and I am not willing to overlook favorable depictions of totalitarian governments because it spoils the fun of the movie.
2. The military has far too much power within in the country and has seemingly no mechanisms in place to prevent it from going rogue.
3. The people of Wakanda are pretty much invisible, we only ever see the elite (military and royals). Even the most important scientist is apparently the king's sister.
4. Only royal people get to become head of government, already excluding the majority of the population.
5. Wakanda is depicted as a utopia, but would probably have a low FHI. The sends the message that freedom is less important than economic success, which is a bad message to send (especially on the African continent, where people struggle for their freedom).
6. The ceremony to replace the king is taken straight from Frazer's The Golden Bough, a.k.a. "Savages and Their Myths".

Minor points:
7. Why the hell wouldn't Killmonger make sure he actually killed the guy? That's lazy.
8. Why does the whole Korean episode exist?

Ultimately you may call me a naive idealist, but I do believe in freedom and democracy, and can't overlook this. I am however aware that other people can ignore it and just enjoy the movie, and I don't criticize them for it (good for them, and this is not meant ironically). I just can't.

I've seen most all of these. I'm sure my older brother has seen all of them, but he doesn't rank things like we do. I'm including his comments below, I guess for my own amusement, though I bet his informal ranking ends up tracking closely with ours. I also asked for the best/worst of *all* superhero movies. (If that hasn't been done here before, I assume that'd be coming up soon.)
I'd put (in no order at the moment): Infinity War, End Game, Thor Ragnorak, Guardians of the Galaxy at the top ... I'd rank the two Tom Holland Spider-Man movies high too ... And it's not as good as the others, but I have a fondness for Doctor Strange.

For the bottom ... Thor Dark World, Captain Marvel, Antman 2, Incredible Hulk ... I also don't fondly recall Iron Man 3 or Age of Ultron.

Dark Knight and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 are classics ... The Sony Spider-Man movies, with Andrew Garfield, I'd prefer if they never existed.

I am an MCU completionist, including TV shows and spinoff material. The reason I was hesitant to start my own poll was because it is a linear story where each film flows into another, unlike Disney or PIXAR. So it's like ranking your favorite chapter of a book.

That being said...

1) Guardians of the Galaxy
2) The Avengers
3) Doctor Strange
4) Iron Man
5) Ant-Man
6) Spider-Man Homecoming
7) Avengers Endgame
8) Black Panther
9) Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2
10) Avengers Age of Ultron
11) Captain America Civil War
12) Iron Man 3
13) Thor Ragnarok
14) Captain America the First Avenger
15) Avengers Infinity War
16) Spider-Man Far From Home
17) Captain Marvel
18) Captain America The Winter Soldier
19) Ant-Man and the Wasp
20) Thor
21) Thor the Dark World
22) Iron Man 2
23) The Incredible Hulk

Maybe I've aged out of the demographic, because I don't think there are many major highs or lows in #8-18.

1 | Iron Man | 2008 (probably my 4th-favorite superhero movie)
2 | Captain America: The Winter Soldier | 2014
3 | Iron Man 2 | 2010
4 | Avengers: Infinity War | 2018
5 | Spider-Man: Far From Home | 2019
6 | Spider-Man: Homecoming | 2017
7 | Ant-Man and the Wasp | 2018
8 | Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 | 2017
9 | Doctor Strange | 2016
10 | Guardians of the Galaxy | 2014
11 | Thor: Ragnarok | 2017
12 | Avengers: Endgame | 2019
13 | Thor | 2011
14 | Captain America: The First Avenger | 2011
15 | Iron Man 3 | 2013
16 | Black Panther | 2018
17 | Avengers: Age of Ultron | 2015
18 | The Avengers | 2012 (not at all the worst out there, I'm sure)

Haven't watched: Thor: The Dark World (not very interested); The Incredible Hulk 2008 (I don't think anyone wants to watch this); Captain America: Civil War; Captain Marvel; Ant-Man (I'll probably watch these someday)

Favorite character from these movies: Iron Man (who had been sort of a 2nd-tier character in the comic books)

Favorite IMDb quote:
Tony Stark: We gotta go. Come on, move with me. We got a plan, and we're going to stick to it.
Yinsen: This was always the plan, Stark...
Tony Stark: Come on, you're going to go see your family. Get up.
Yinsen: My family is dead, Stark... and I'm going to see them now. It's okay, I want this... I want this.
[Stark is silent for a moment]
Tony Stark: Thank you for saving me.
Yinsen: Don't waste it... don't waste your life, Stark.

Civil War is definitely worth a watch. I rewatched it recently, and it's a really solid film, not just a Marvel movie. The integration of politics and sort of slow-burn aspects to the film work really well, it has a great villain whose reintegration into later media is great, and after watching it I realized how disappointing it was that a lot of what happened in the film really didn't matter all that much character-wise by the next time we saw the Avengers in Infinity War and everyone just sort of united.

I did the same as for rank the songs!

Good:
1. Guardians of the Galaxy

Bad:
2. Iron Man

Very bad:
3. Thor
4. Captain America: The First Avenger
5. Black Panther
6. Spider-Man: Homecoming

And I really promised myself that I would never watch a super underwear movie again.

This is the reason I asked the question 'Why?'. If you aren't a fan of these movies why even bother ranking them. There is no way I would include rankings like Romain's or mileswide's in this poll.

I liked the two movies I watched, having also included them in my 2010s films ballot last year, but I can accept 2 is far too few to qualify, so I withdraw my vote.

Alright, so I finally finished rewatching all these. I probably won't redo my list but here's some takeaways:

Some of the movies that I thought were just okay before (Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2) I've come to really enjoy, even when compared to the really good stuff that came later. Overall I was surprised to find that I found that every one of these movies was better than the first time I watched them (especially since a lot of these I only saw once in theaters years ago). This is true for everything except...Age of Ultron

I always thought that movie got kind of a bad rap just because it wasn't nearly as good as the first Avengers movie but oh my god I just cannot stand the dialogue for a lot of this. It's really a shame because I feel like the action sequences are mostly very entertaining but so many of the conversations just seem so unusually stilted and some of it is so forced that it made me cringe. Case in point, it's unfortunately obvious that Mark Ruffalo and Scarlet Johannsen don't have a whole lot of chemistry together so their sudden romance is so awkward and really takes me out of it. It's so hard to believe that this and The Avengers were both written by the same guy, the dialogue and general pacing in the first one are still really impressive after all this time.

Speaking of which, I liked Black Panther a lot when it came out but watching it again there is just so much elevating this into the classic everyone says it is, it would probably be even higher on my list now. Side note: I listened to the soundtrack again afterwards and I'm happy to say that it still knocks.

I assume that the 1994 Fantastic Four won, and you can't bring yourself to tell us.

I'm just playing, you probably have finals or something. Thanks for doing all of these polls.

For fun, I looked up a bunch of bad comic book/superhero movies on IMDb. (I worked off the top 15 worst from four different lists online.) These are the 10 worst-rated on IMDb, or awfully close. When I said The Avengers was my lowest-ranking submission but not the worst thing out there, this is basically what I meant. I had thought, har har, I'll drunkenly hate-watch the worst one, but I don't think I could even do that to myself now. I'm a little surprised that I've only seen 2 of these.

#1 worst. Son of the Mask
2. Dragonball Evolution
3. Steel
4. Captain America (1990)
5. Barb Wire
6. Catwoman
7. Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
8. Batman & Robin
9. The Fantastic Four (1994, unreleased)
10. Fantastic Four (2015)
If #9 doesn't count (the filmmakers did technically save audiences from watching it), then Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance rounds out the top 10.

I don't know if it really qualifies as a super hero movie, but My Super Ex-Girlfriend is probably the 2nd worst movie I have seen in a theater.

It would need a 4.3 or lower to be dealt into this game. It's sitting pretty with a 5.1 rating.

I did see Superman IV in the theater way back when, but I was like 9 years old, so I'm sure I was like, "Ermagerd, can Superman beat Nuclear Man?" I didn't see Batman & Robin until many years after the fact, when it could do no harm. Incidentally, I looked at IMDb's infamous Bottom 100 ... Their rankings seem slightly out of date, but still, wow, the bottom eight comic book movies that I mentioned here all charted.

Well if imdb is the reference, Dragonball Evolution might be the worst movie I have seen in a theater, but there are a handful movies I actually think were worse (at the very least, I had a few laughs at how bad Dragon Ball Evolution is, I didn't laugh a single time during My Super Ex-Girlfriend, which is supposed to be a comedy)

Looks like we've got:

01 | Iron Man | 2008
06 | The Avengers | 2012
09 | Captain America: The Winter Soldier | 2014
10 | Guardians of the Galaxy | 2014
17 | Thor: Ragnarok | 2017
19 | Avengers: Infinity War | 2018
22 | Avengers: Endgame | 2019

I won't bother with predictions except to say that Winter Soldier should place very high.
