OK. The list is taken from a book I love, by Charlie Gillett, that tells the story of early rnr and r&b but seen from the industry's point of view.
In the end there's a great discography, a list of songs from 1946 to 1971 that could be very useful to early rnr lovers, and also for the AM 3000

I have a question as well. What does "the industry's point of view" mean here? If I had only seen that sentence and not the lists I would have thought the lists had been more similar to sales charts. Maybe the chapters describe the industry's point of view, but not the lists? Or is it something I don't get?

Ok guys

The book is presented as "a study of the rise of rock and roll from 1954 to 1971".
Forget about the "industry's point of view". It was an akward way to say that for Gillett, managers and record labels mattered very much, especially in these pioneer times.
But all along it is nothing but Gillett's point of view.

About the list of records I'm posting here (the "play list" according to Gillett). I quote

"The reasons for including each record vary, but each of them became a part of the background for anyone making records thereafter. Some are here because they brought a new musical idea into the framework of "rock 'n' roll" -piano boogie, guitar boogie, bass boogie; others redefined the use of an instrument -electric guitar, back-beat drums, electric bass, electric piano. Ad each new way of using a voice is represented by the person who thought of it first, usually their first hit.
The list is biased against the real giants of the era -Elvis, the Beatles, Dylan,most Motown artists_ whose every record tended to be a trigger for a host of imitators (...)
Most of the records in the list were best sellers, and they are listed in the chronological order in which they first surfaced on a national chart in the USA (pop, r&b or country & western) or Britain. (...)
A few records are listed which were not hits, mostly to represent the first recording of a song which became part of the rock 'n' roll repertoire, but occasionnally to acknoweledge a record whose value was recognized too late to affect its chance of making the charts"
