So what are the greatest Irish songs of all time? It's a touchy subject - where do you start, where do you finish?

We gave the job to the DJs over in RTÉ 2FM who, after much debate, managed to whittle it down to 60 nominees – it was tough going!

Not eligible but I guess it's worth posting as a reference for what the Irish think their best songs are.

I think these nominations are well-deserved, and these are also songs that I have listened to so many times

The nation's favorite songs were revealed on The Ultimate Irish Playlist, which aired on RTÉ One on Monday night. Voting had been going on for a while.
