Best Music Videos Poll -- (Redoing) Results
Posting 170 videos on one thread page turned out to be a terrible idea. I'm going to have to re-start , and include only 1 video per post, so at most there is only 50 per page.
This is the old thread, if you'd still like to see it:
http://acclaimedmusic.net/forums/viewto ... 57#p134657
==========================================================================================================
Welcome to the results for the Best Music Videos Poll! 17 forum members submitted lists. To qualify for the main rollout, a video had to be nominated by two forum members.
We've come a long way from when I first saw a music video list (Rolling Stone's 1993 top 100 list ... Incidentally, their highest-rated video not represented here is Neil Young's This Note's for You). Nowadays, if we want to watch a video, we can likely just head over to YouTube. Of course, that means even more videos to drown in, but I think this poll can help get us onto the same page.
As far as voting was concerned, I just wanted to focus us on videos, not directors. But to the extent that I was able to look up the director for a video (which was the vast majority of the time), I was able to put together some stats that should help me and you have a better understanding of who's directed what.
A big thank you to jamieW and his brother for making this happen anywhere near the deadline.

Director Russell Mulcahy: We had these crazy ideas. And it was done for fun, more than anything. It opened up MTV, it was the first video they showed. And no one realized the impact that this video would have.
Trevor Horn: We had no idea what we were going to do [for the video]; and all we had was a couple of silver suits, I mean, I had a great big pair of blue glasses. And quite honestly, I didn't care!
I just remember the girl in the tube. What a strange thing to be in a tube, where you could barely move, and how dangerous it actually was, because the tube sort of went over at one point, and she couldn't stop herself from falling over. And she sort of flies off the top of all of the TV sets ... It was a day of mayhem.
