Errors in the 2020 update
Re: Errors in the 2020 update
On the album page for Blumfeld's L'Etat Et Moi there's a list right at the very top that is not displayed correctly on which the album sits at number 37.
Also, it seems that all albums with the genre label Hamburger Schule are displayed as Indie Rock on AM instead. I'm not sure if that is a deliberate decision.

Taylor Swift's Fearless and Red both have 5-star ratings from AllMusic, not 4.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
I noticed several musicians whose albums from the 2010s are listed on their artist page but they are not listed among the top artists of the 2010s - Dr. John, Drive-by Truckers, Paul Simon, Neil Young, k.d. lang, Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket, John Prine, Raconteurs, Rhiannon Giddens, Yola, Chris Stapleton, Mavis Staples, Hiss Golden Messenger, Gary Clarke Jr, Charles Bradley, Margo Price and Sharon Jones.

That’s because their 2010s albums are not ranked, they are bubbling under the all-time top 3000.agordon wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:05 pm I noticed several musicians whose albums from the 2010s are listed on their artist page but they are not listed among the top artists of the 2010s - Dr. John, Drive-by Truckers, Paul Simon, Neil Young, k.d. lang, Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket, John Prine, Raconteurs, Rhiannon Giddens, Yola, Chris Stapleton, Mavis Staples, Hiss Golden Messenger, Gary Clarke Jr, Charles Bradley, Margo Price and Sharon Jones.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
Wikipedia page for 'Pretenders' says it was released 1979 in the U.S., but it's listed as 1980 on the web page.
Re: Errors in the 2020 update
FYI I updated my post from December 7 several times as I was going through, as I found missing songs in the history section. I finished now. There are likely more year discrepancies too, but I probably won't revisit those for awhile.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
The title of Discharge's 1982 album is Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing.
Re: Errors in the 2020 update
The first release of "Radio Free Europe" by R.E.M. was in 1981.
"Moonage Daydream" and "Hang onto Yourself" by David Bowie were first released as a single in 1971 under the name Arnold Corns.
The Band didn't play on the 1971 version of "I Shall Be Released" by Bob Dylan. It's just Dylan and producer Leon Russell. The version they recorded with Dylan was first released on The 1974 live album Before the Flood. The Basement Tapes outtake was released on the 1991 boxed set Bootleg Series Volume 1-3, the same box as "Blind Willie McTell." There's justification for a Dylan and The Band ranking of I Shall Be Released, but none of those are the 1971 version from Greatest Hits Vol 2.
"Handshake Drugs" by Wilco was first released on the "More Like the Moon" EP on April 23, 2003, a year before it's 2004 designation.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
This isn't specific to this update and may not even be an error, but it's been bugging me for a while so I figured I'd bring it up.
"All the Young Dudes" by David Bowie is ranked #6284 all-time based on its appearance on five different "best Bowie songs" lists and the song's page links to the performance on David Live. But not all lists cite this particular recording:
1. Consequence of Sound (USA) - David Bowie's Top 70 Songs (2017): "Aladdin Sane sessions"
2. SportsAlcohol.com (USA) - The Top 32 David Bowie Songs (2016): "David Live, 1974"
3. NME (UK) - Bowie: His Real Greatest Hits (2014): "1974," so presumably David Live
4. Uncut (UK) - David Bowie's 30 Best Songs (2008): "Bowie’s version was never released on a studio album, but is available on a number of compilations and David Live (November 1974)"
5. Rolling Stone (Spain) - The 30 Best David Bowie Songs (2013): "The Best of David Bowie, 1997"
So #s 1 and 5 refer to the version that was recorded during the Aladdin Sane sessions but not released until 1997 on The Best of... compilation. #s 2 and 3 refer to the David Live version. #4 mentions both versions, but the comments from Robert Wyatt focus on Bowie's songwriting and not on Bowie as a performer of the song.
I just wonder if this song should be included on the list at all. The "votes" are split evenly between the two available recordings, but Bowie is really being given credit as a songwriter as opposed to as a performer. Neither of Bowie's versions appear on any yearly lists so no one ever cited them as among the best songs released in 1974 or 1997. I feel like these should count towards the Mott recording, if they are counted at all (Oddly, the NME list is contributing to the ranking of the Mott version even though it cites the song as a 1974 release. Mott's version was released in 1972.)

The same applies to its original B-side 'Sitting Still'.

If you look on the song's page, it still shows this. This is a part of the "Most Acclaimed Version" addition.

In the wake of the announcement of MF DOOM's death, I find myself wondering whether Madvillain and DangerDoom could/should be listed on DOOM's artist page, as Viktor Vaughn already is (I know that MV and DD were collaborations, but still).

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
Karlheinz Stockhausen's Kontakte (#1774) is listed as being from 1960. I've consulted several different websources and they all say that the work itself was indeed finished by 1960 and was performed by then, but the first recording was apparently released in 1962. The album cover shown on the album's page is from the recording released in 1964. It appears on a list by SPIN and they also have it classified as being from 1964.
I don't know if this is an error, because maybe classical music (in a wider sense than usual) gets different qualities, but I thought it was worth noting.

Jimmy Smith's Back at the Chicken Shack (#2177) was indeed recorded in 1960, but wasn't released as an album until three years later in 1963.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
The artist link to "Kenny y Los Eléctricos" doesn't work.
Re: Errors in the 2020 update
Not quite an error, but a lack of consistency as far as I can tell. In the Artist list for the letter M, I was unable to find The Modern Lovers. I do not understand how this happened, but is seems a bit off to me.
Re: Errors in the 2020 update
The Modern Lovers is list under Jonathan Richman/The Modern Lovers, so the link is in the 'R' section. I'd agree that it makes sense to have a link in the M section, though.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
I'm thankful for the Get Low error, because it allowed Come Dancing by The Kinks to slip into the top 10,000. Not sure if I would have discovered it otherwise. Great tune, and this line is pretty funny.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
There are two artist pages for the same band: Oh Sees and Thee Oh Sees. But I can only retrieve the Thee Oh Sees site via google, it is not shown on the alphabetical menu. Or is this just a relict from a former AM version?
Re: Errors in the 2020 update
RYM and Discogs both list Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus as a 1961 album, as opposed to 1960.
Re: Errors in the 2020 update
RYM and Wikipedia both have Newk's Time as being released in 1959.
Discogs and RYM both indicate that "Statesboro Blues," although recorded in 1928, was released in 1929.

Re: Errors in the 2020 update
I assume the problem relates to just one or maybe two lists. When I find that/those lists, the error will be fixed for other albums as well, so keep reporting if you find any other cases, but there’s probably no need to search specifically for this. Thanks!
