I listened to a lot of Van Halen and even some Van Hagar... Besides a best-of, the 2 albums I'd recommend are 1984 and F.U.C.K.
I got a rather uncharacteristic "Eddie Van Halen. " text from my mother, who mostly listens to Joni Mitchell.

Damn, one year ago this Wednesday. Van Halen was one of those "Oops, I could have seen them" acts -- they played Phoenix on Sept. 28, 2015, but I was like, I don't know, it's on a Monday, David Lee Roth is old now, blah blah blah...
Anyway, here is perhaps my favorite guitar solo of all time, helped along by Eddie unilaterally deciding to change the song's structure. Beat It is very popular on '80s radio, so maybe just head over to there sometime this week.
Bonus song. I thought this was a good deal better than Jagger/Bowie's rush job.

God, that Jagger/Bowie version. "South A-MER-i-CA!!!" And that infamous video, which a Family Guy episode once played in full, followed by Peter Griffin looking accusatorily into the camera and saying, "That happened. And we all let it happen."Live in Phoenix wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 9:04 pm Bonus song. I thought this was a good deal better than Jagger/Bowie's rush job.

Lol. Practically every time I see "South America," I'm stuck thinking of that pronunciation. Same thing with the movie UHF -- which I last saw, what, 30 years ago -- and "Supplies!"Harold wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 12:27 amGod, that Jagger/Bowie version. "South A-MER-i-CA!!!" Had it not been those two, two of the most beloved, influential names in rock history, that video could have single handedly “Billy Squired” their careers down the drain.
