Biggest Fan Songs - 2nd Edition: 301 - 400
Hey, it's a new topic for Biggest Fan 2nd Edition, where we can daily rate picks #301 to #400.
For those new here, the rules are simple. Every day I post a single random song from all the entries to the 2021 Best Songs of All Time Poll from this very forum. What makes these songs unique is that they only got one vote. That's right, according to the poll, these songs have only one fan. Perhaps we can change that? We also alternate among people whose songs are used. Although the persons are as random as the songs, everybody who participated in the poll gets a song here until everyone had their turn. Then we start over.
After I post a song you can grade it on a scale from 1 to 10 (0 is not an option and I will count it as a 1). After every 100 songs I'll reveal the current top 100 based on voting averages. If you missed a day, month or year, don't worry: you can always catch up or even change your grade later. There is no real deadline as long as this game is alive. I do change topic after every 100 to keep the topics a bit more manageable, but you can always go back to the older ones. See here below:
1 - 100
101 - 200
201 - 300
And this is the playlist with the songs:

Moonbeam again, but he doesn’t continue his Prince support. In fact, we have a relatively recent song instead of his more traditional 80’s fare.
301. The Strokes – Eternal Summer
Year: 2020
Album: The New Abnormal
Biggest Fan: Moonbeam (#899)
And for those who voted for this in the previous topic, I'll take your votes from there.
Don’t forget you can always vote at a later moment or change your rating.

I never listened to The New Abnormal, but the few songs I did hear made it clear that they had a welcome new sound. I've never completely understood the hype surrounding the band, but I like this change. Eternal Summer too, is another cool song that has indeed a bit of a Summer vibe to it, and a whole lot more. I probably like this more than anything on This Is It.

The S.O.S. Band – Take Your Time (Do It Right): 6
There are a lot of disco and funk songs from the seventies and eighties that have all the good stuff in the first half and then in the second half they suddenly decide to go on without any diversification of the sound. Take Your Time is one of those songs and like pretty much all of them it really overstays its welcome. Maybe it is my fault for listening to the album versions, but it turns an otherwise very good song into something lesser. And regardless of album or single length, why even go on this long?

With Brad’s fondness of alternative rock of the eighties and nineties it was but a matter of time before we would hit one of the big names of it’s kind: Pavement. Not unsurprisingly one of Brad’s favorite bands.
304. Pavement – We Dance
Year: 1995
Album: Wowee Zowee
Biggest Fan: Brad (#793)

304. Pavement – We Dance: 9.25 (dropped a spot to #974 on my charts) "There is no castration fear..." an audacious opener to Pavement's classic Wowee Zowee LP. Pick out some Brazilian nuts and chill, brothers & sisters.
Thanks!

I remember that some years ago Wowee Zowee was part of Moderately Acclaimed and I was unkind to it. I've gotten more used to Pavement and its strain of alternative rock since. I still don't listen to it too often, but I've warmed up to it. We Dance is one of those tracks were Stephen Malkmus' voice and ramblings seem almost disconnected to the music. In the right mood I can appreciate that and I was in the right mood just now, despite a lack of Brazilians nuts. It was later than I thought.

I just had this song in my head a couple days ago. The usual strong MJ intensity. Kris Kross (in the video) and Heavy D made me think of this as just a jam, but if you scan the lyrics, you see it's a fusion with Jackson's "all the world must come together" sort of concerns.

Bob Dylan – The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest: 7
I'm a big fan of John Wesley Harding, but this song always struck me as not quite there. It is an intriguing allegory, full of great lines, but I'm not sure if it adds up. It particularly doesn't really naturally comes to the apparent moral that Dylan spells out ("One should not be where one doesn't belong"). I mean, I see it, but most of the song has little do to with that message. It works best as a slightly haunting characters study like As I Went Out One Morning or I Dreamed I Saw Saint Augustine, but these two are better.
Michael Jackson - Jam: 5
I've noticed that I'm not a fan of what is known as new jack swing. It sounds almost random and I think Michael Jacksons weak voice doesn't fit the genre. Not my thing, but I guess this is still preferrable over any ballad sung by Jackson.

The second appearance by Barbra Streisand this edition of Biggest Fan and once again Profeta is guilty of it. It’s actually their highest ranked eligible song! The song also ranks on AM at #7950.

Not great. I may not the biggest Barbra Streisand fan (though I like another song from the album, Woman in Love), but the way this basically changes from one of her songs into a Gibb/ Bee Gees song halfway seems to do her no favors. It doesn't gel. The juxtaposition could have made it interesting, but diminishes both halves to me.
Also, it may be obvious by now, but I won't reveal the current top 100 of Biggest Fan this weekend. I already thought it would be unlikely I had the time, but now I know for certain.

OutKast xplode on the Biggest Fan scene for the first time! B-Real too! It comes from Jackson’s list and it made me think if there could be any relation to that famous Ms. Jackson of OutKast’s song?

Not to be rude, but during the last 100 songs you only voted for two songs and they were both your nominations. Since this unbalances the results heavily in favor of your songs I have to ask you to vote for more or I won't count these two votes.

Fair enough! You can not count my votes then. Haven't had time to listen to the rest lately

OutKast, featuring B-Real - Xplode: 7
So Andre3000's verses don't make any sense to me at all, B-Real makes perfect sense and Big Boi is caught in between those extremes. Mostly though it just seem spitballing and having fun. Perhaps it works better here than on the album itself, actually, because it can get lost between the more coherent statements Stankonia has.
