It’s been a while since whuntva opened the second edition of Biggest Fan with a Bionicle song. He had to wait a long time for his second entry, but today he gets a real classic for guitar fanatics. It ranks on AM at #5689.

144. Stevie Ray Vaughn – Texas Flood
Year: 1983
Album: Texas Flood
Biggest Fan: whuntva (#444)

Hey, where did my vote for yesterday go? Did I forget to press 'submit'?

Bon Jovi - Misunderstood: 5
It's better than Never Say Goodbye, because it plays more into Bon Jovi's strengths. Still, it isn't all that remarkable and despite the Grammy nomination surely not one of the songs that people will remember this band by.

Stevie Ray Vaughn – Texas Flood: 6
I've tried to get into Stevie Ray Vaughn some years ago, but his songs never stick in my mind. Texas Flood was certainly among those songs back then. It's nice enough to listen to, but no matter the guitar skill there is something missing to make it really something special. I like electric blues, but Vaughn reminds me of Rory Gallagher in that they both are highly praised guitarists who don't seem to make memorable songs to me.

Aaron Neville – Don’t Take Away My Heaven

6

I've seen Aaron Neville on TV in the crowd at pro wrestling shows, and he has to be the only person I know who could have had a career as a big, muscly pro wrestler, but instead became famous for his charming falsetto. In 1993, he didn't seem out of place on the radio over 30 years after he started.

Krurze still isn’t ready to reveal his signature club bangers to Biggest Fan 2nd Edition, but he is subtly working towards it with an early track of one of the most danceable indie acts from last decade.

145. Tame Impala – Lucidity
Year: 2010
Album: Innerspeaker
Biggest Fan: Krurze (#785)

From the top of my head: Marquee Moon by Television, Layla by Derek & the Dominoes, Hocus Pocus by Focus, Entertain by Sleater-Kinney, Powederfinger by Neil Young; to name a few.

Tame Impala – Lucidity: 8
There is indeed quite a bit of Beatles in here, although not overly so. When the electric guitars start to soar it gets really cool.
Still need to listen to this album. That will happen soon for sure.

During the previous edition of Biggest Fan, the two Belle and Sebastian songs that appeared proved to be popular. Will the band give glory to Bang Jan as well?

Belle and Sebastian – Stay Loose: 8
Peak Belle and Sebastian, with a wonderful melody, great lyrics and even a guitar solo. Never heard this song and its album before; it's a good deep cut.

Kanye West – Family Business: 7
The last few years I mostly heard more recent Kanye West songs, so I was almost forgotten that once he could make stuff like this. Songs with observation and clever rhymes, with a foot in real life.

We close the second round of personal nominations with a band that pretty much announces itself with this song. That’s right, cetamol was the last who didn’t have a second entry, meaning that from tomorrow people can look forward to their third nomination. But first for today we have a song that ranks at #3085 on AM.

148. Monks – Monk Time
Year: 1966
Album: Black Monk Time
Biggest Fan: cetamol (#532)

Monks – Monk Time: 9
Garage rock at its most furious, with singer Gary Burger losing his shit about the atomic bomb, James Bond and Pussy Galore, while at the same time announcing the band's arrival. Amazing stuff from a wonderful album. This should have been on my own list and I have no excuse for overlooking it!

Who better to be the first to get three songs in than a man who still has over 500 eligible songs: Wezzo. Today’s artist isn’t all that beloved on this forum, but consider that he might be a little too good for you.

Year: 2004
Album: Room Service
