BonnieLaurel returns with a minor hit by Lenny Kravitz. Should it have been a bigger success?

I'm not that big on Lenny Kravitz in general, but there are exceptions. This happens to be one of those. A pretty cool song with a good groove. Sounds a lot older than it is though.

In what will probably will prove to be one of the most controversial moments of this forum mileswide takes a side in the eternal ungoing rivalry of Nike vs. Adidas! He does so through the form of a ten minute song that according to the credits is played on “objects”. Do you prefer this over Run-DMC’s My Adidas?

116. Pauline Oliveros, Stuart Dempster & Panaiotis - Nike
Year: 1989

How do you even rate this? Is a soundscape always music? To me this really doesn't qualify as a song. Not even in an avant-garde way. It just doesn't bring anything I would be looking for when I want to hear music. Compare it to paying for a movie, but just getting one still photograph: the same technique, but a different medium with different strengths altogether. We already had Perfume from Now On before, which was also more in the soundscape area, but that still felt musical to me, while this doesn't. Sure there is some chanting from time to time, but mostly these feel like sounds to create a new non-musical ambience. I guess it works? Still I have to admit for not caring about it.

It’s been some three weeks since we last had a song not in English and Spanish forum member Otisredding knows it’s time to fix that, so he brings a song from his home country. It ranks on AM at #4843.

117. Triángulo de Amor Bizarro - De la monarquía a la criptocracia
Year: 2010
Album: Año Santo
Biggest Fan: Otisredding (#978)

Certainly not as New Order as the band's name suggests. Instead this is some good, driving noise pop with bright vocals. Easy to like.

This is more of a slow spreading fire than an explosion in sound. Still, as such it is quite effective. I haven't clicked with this band in the past, but this song is pretty good.

The non-English streak continues with another Spanish song, always a likely option with Panam. This one is from Colombia.

Despite Elder being another user with a Latin language as the mother tongue (Portuguese I believe), he breaks the non-English language streak with an American song. Not that this doesn’t make him good enough, as the critics have ranked it at #4257 on AM.

Today we get the highest ranked song that is eligible on Flibie’s very short list of candidates. It’s from a band that has always been more of a popular than a critical favorite, though it comes from their one acclaimed album. What do you think?
