A solid, honest feeling country song, that I actually prefer a little in it's bluegrass rendition.

BluePanda’s second pick ranks rather high on AM, at #1752. It’s in the dance genre that doesn’t frequently make our individual lists (if you want to be specific, it is qualified as future garage/ UK bass). Time to reconsider?

95. Joy Orbison – Hyph Mngo
Year: 2009
Released as a single
Biggest Fan: BluePanda (#740)

As is frequently the case with dance music like this I struggle to hear what makes them interesting. To me this easily becomes background music; pretty much the opposite of making me want to dance. It's too cold and mechanical to appeal to me.

People who claim to be criminals, but also say they are innocent, asking to be stolen from. An identity crisis if I ever seen one. Perhaps phil can clear things up?

I've voiced similar sentiments to Rob on this type of dance music in the past. I would have given this a 3 on my last listen, but at least it's growing on me a little bit.

Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals – Steal My Kisses: 5
It sounds light and harmless on the surface. There's a relaxed groove here. But the lyrics, even though there isn't much to it, are of the kind that only could seem romantic in the nineties. It is about a guy who follows a girl around who clearly isn't attracted to him and he keeps kissing her off-guard. A soft-core version of "No means yes" if you ask me. It makes the song more than a little creepy, even if I suspect Ben Harper thinks it's cute.
That brings me back to my earlier introduction. The title doesn't refer to someone stealing Harper's kisses, but him stealing his own kisses from a girl. Whether that makes him an innocent criminal is for you to decide (I vote "no").

I think this is quite a misreading of the lyrics. He has said in interviews it is about his son. He wants to see his son more often but he feels like his ex-partner isn’t making it easy for him. The line ‘Steal my kisses’ is about the challenges he is up against to be able to build a relationship with his son.

In the past edition, Moonbeam made several Kylie Minogue songs appear in the game. Yet did you know that Kylie’s younger sister Dannii is also into music? I didn’t, but obviously Moonbeam does. Let’s see how she compares to her sister, based on one song.

97. Dannii Minogue – Put the Needle on It

Biggest Fan: Moonbeam (#413)

The line ‘Steal my kisses’ is about the challenges he is up against to be able to build a relationship with his son.
There is nothing to suggest this point of view in the actual lyrics. He only talks about a girl. No son or child is even suggested:

I pulled into Nashville, Tennessee,
But you wouldn't even come around to see me
And since you're headin' up to Carolina,
You know I'm gonna be right there behind ya

'Cause I always have to steal my kisses from you
Always have to steal my kisses from you
Always have to steal my kisses from you
I always have to steal my kisses from you

Now I love to feel that warm southern rain,
Just to hear it fall is the sweetest sounding thing
And to see it fall on your simple country dress
It's like heaven to me I must confess

'Cause I always have to steal my kisses from you
I always have to steal my kisses from you
Always have to steal my kisses from you
I always have to steal my kisses from you

Now I've been hangin' 'round you for days,
But when I lean in you just turn your head away
Oh no, you didn't mean that
She said I love the way you think, but I hate the way you act

'Cause I always have to steal my kisses from you
Always have to steal my kisses from you
Always have to steal my kisses from you
I always have to steal my kisses from you
Always have to steal my kisses from you
I always have to steal my kisses from you
Always have to steal my kisses from you
Always have to steal my kisses from you

With a little twisting of the brain I can see it being about losing contact with a son, but certainly nobody could possible ever get that out it based on these lines. The third verse is explicitly about a woman turning away, not refusing to be kissed.

Huh, this one is surprisingly good. I say surprising, because I rated Moonbeam's Kylie Minogue selections consistently low. This is the same genre, but there is simply a solid groove here.

A more opulent version of Please, Mr. Postman. Did it need to be made? I don't know, but now that we are here I do like it.

Last time Schüttelbirne surprised us with a Ziggy Stardust track. This time he picks a real surprise, a song that is very short and very little heard, at least outside its home country of Germany.
