NIce !
Billy Talent is definitely an acquired taste, but their first two albums are excellent punk-rock with attitude. The Canadian band opened for Green Day in Paris, but I missed them and saw Paramore instead (booh)
The singer's voice is very nasal but they have a "chanting" quality I absolutely adore.
River Below is a great song, but not their best - I would however listen to it many times over 80s disco.
Nice video too

Billy Talent – River Below: 7
It's no surprise to hear these guys opened for Green Day, as I immediately thought of that band when this song started. And this song came out one year after American Idiot, to which this bears some resemblance. Billy Talent do have a harder sound though, but not as good a singer. Nonetheless, this is some welcome punishing punk rock.

Re: Biggest Fan Songs - 2nd Edition
There’s an interesting fact about today’s song. It is one of Lupe Fiasco’s biggest hits and most iconic songs, but it is dismissed by the artist himself, who was apparently contractually forced to record it. He doesn’t like it, but StevieFan13 does. Do you?

Re: Biggest Fan Songs - 2nd Edition
I was hoping today was gonna be one of mine (then again, I’m always hoping it’s gonna be one of mine). I’ve flip-flopped on this song before, and while I’m not necessarily a gigantic fan of Lupe, I can’t act like this one isn’t pretty triumphant. I’ll give it a 10.

Turns out I knew this one. There were more hip-hop songs like this at the time, with a hook-filled pop sound and a triumphant party sound. Nothing special and I can hear why Lupe Fiasco found this a bit of a sell-out, but it kind of works.

What Rob said!
This came out at the end of my senior year of high school and I agree there was a ton of this kind of music at that time, with this, b.o.b, Flo Rida, Travie McCoy, etc. that filled up so many party playlists when I first got to college. Nostalgia points push it above a 5

I certainly remember this, but it was never ridiculous or good enough to stick in my head. Probably haven't heard it since 2011 either.

Ah yes, Tom Waits. This man made a few appearances during the first edition of Biggest Fan and they were always divisive. But who knows, perhaps acr0320 has found the one Waits song we can all love (or hate)?

Been sad lately that I no longer have time to participate in the forum as much as before, so I picked one game I could play to keep my foot in the door and this was the one. Catch up time!
44. Fugazi – Sieve-Fisted Find 6
45. Gorillaz, featuring André 3000 & James Murphy – DoYaThing 2 (I love all these artists, but I don’t get what people see in this song at all.)
46. Alice Cooper – You and Me 6
47. Kris Kristofferson – Me and Bobby McGee 6
48. The Decemberists – The Crane Wife 1 & 2 6
49. Duane Eddy – Rebel Rouser 9
50. Cocteau Twins – Iceblink Luck 7
51. Beny Moré – Cómo Fue 6
52. Ministry – Revenge 10 (Nassim questioned whether this was Al Jourgensen’s choice of sound. From what I’ve heard, it was the record company that forced it upon him, and Al hated it, so he filled the synthpop with as much anger and menace as possible. It’s this juxtaposition that makes “With Sympathy” my favorite Ministry album.)
53. Billy Bragg – She’s Got a New Spell 6
54. Steve Reich – Music for Mallet Instruments, Voices and Organ 9
55. Suzanne Vega – Ironbound / Fancy Poultry 7
56. Triana – En el lago 9
57. Rosalía - Pienso en tu mirá – Cap 3: Celos 6
58. The Long Blondes – Once and Never Again 6
59. Breakout – Kamienie 6
60. Vance Joy – Riptide 7
61. Michael Bolton – When a Man Loves a Woman 1 (My least favorite artist of all time with one of my least favorite songs by him.)
62. Smog – Teenage Spaceship 6
63. Marilyn Manson – Rock is Dead 5
64. Kelly Clarkson – Mr. Know It All 7 (Her songs are hit-and-miss for me, but I think this is one of Kelly’s better ones.)
65. Vonda Shepard – Hooked on a Feeling 4
66. The Go-Betweens – Clouds 6
67. Katy Perry – Roar 4
68. Colin Blunstone – Her Song 6 (I love this album, but not one of my favorite songs from it.)
69. Al Green – All ‘n All 5
70. Leonard Cohen – Please Don’t Pass Me By (A Disgrace) 5 (Another artist I adore with a song that leaves me somewhat cold, though Leonard belts it out with passion. But then I’m not big on live songs altogether.)
71. Interpol – Slow Hands 7
72. Chocolate Genius – My Mom 6
73. The Soul Stirrers – Were You There? 6
74. C+C Music Factory – Take a Toke 4
75. Robbie Williams – The Heavy Entertainment Show 6

Fantastic instrumental, but I always found Tom's vocal performance here less exciting. Still, a clear highlight of Swordfishtrombones.

Last time around sonofsamiam gave us the longest song yet. This time he brings a very short one, but does that mean it will be more accessible?

I really love this album, but it's one where I hardly think about the songs individually. Hearing this on its own for the first time does work I must say.
