2021 Songs So Far - FINALE
At long last we are here: The final round of 2021 Songs So Far!
I have to say it was a pleasure hosting this. The line-up this year was amazing and the tournament had quite a few surprises in order. Thanks again to all nominators and voters!
So let's get the final match-up out of the way:
The deadline is Friday, 24 September, so I can disclose the results one week from now (but if you need more time, just tell me).
Here's this week's matchups:
Floating Points / Pharoah Sanders / London Symphony Orchestra | Movement 6 vs. Noname | Rainforest
Here's the playlist (if you need it):

I've voted against Movement 6 for the last few rounds. It's good but just not my taste compared to the rest of the entries its been against. That said, it would be a worthy winner and definitely seems to have the support behind it!
My vote goes to Rainforest! An incredibly smooth vocal and instrumental, deliciously political, and one of my favourites of this poll.

My predicted finale was "Rainforest" vs. "Like I Used To", but I'm glad it turned out this way.
Sorry, Pharoah, for voting against you, but I'll make it up to you by putting "Preview" in my Top 5 for the 1968 songs.

My favorite of all the nominees made it to the final! (And Noname would be a worthy winner, as well.)

Brilliant shout, The Jazz Composer's Orchestra album is in my top 5 for the year- maybe the best thing Pharaoh, Cecil Taylor and Don Cherry have been involved inSchüttelbirne wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 9:49 pm Floating Points / Pharoah Sanders / London Symphony Orchestra | Movement 6 vs. Noname | Rainforest

Rainforest wins it for me with surely the first anti-capitalist, bossa nova rap feel-good anthem
All I got inside is vacancy!

I'll go with Rainforest, but it's not an easy choice given how different yet excellent both songs are. I'm curious how this song will end up doing with critics given it wasn't a hit and Noname's albums have historically been more acclaimed than her songs.

Thanks to the 13 voters!
The result:
Floating Points / Pharoah Sanders / London Symphony Orchestra | Movement 6 vs. Noname | Rainforest : 5 - 8
That means the winner of 2021 Songs So Far is:
Let's see how it does on the EOY list.
And does this mean "long distance conjoined twins" will take the top spot? Only time will tell.
