Best Moderately Acclaimed Album of 2018: Voting thread

Post by Jirin »

I'm officially declaring nominations closed, and the voting begins. You have until January 31st to vote.

Votes should be PMed to me, not posted in this thread. When you vote, list all the albums you have listened to from top to bottom. Any albums you did not have a chance to listen to, just leave off the list.

Final ranking will use a win-loss formula for each pair of albums head to head, so not voting for an album with neither help nor hurt it. The winner will have automatic entry into the next Best Moderately Acclaimed Album game.

A full list of nominations and their nominators:
Jirin: Gang Gang Dance - Kazuashita
Jackson: Rolo Tomassi - Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It

Hi Jirin,

I can't wait to listen to these nominations. Just one thing - my nomination should read 'Unknown Mortal Orchestra'

Added fixes. Sorry, I thought any mistakes would have been called out when I posted the list at the end of the nomination thread.

Currently there are two ballots, myself and rumpdoll. Bumping the thread. Jan 31 is not a hard deadline but if you need a few extra days please ask for them.

I have my ballot ready. Just holding back for now in case I have a change of heart about any of the albums.

I'll be late as usual. I've listened to most album and will finish them all by the end of the weekend I guess, but there are some I want to return to before making my final decision.

Currently have four ballots, one more week to get them in. If you need a little extra time you can ask and it will be available.

Currently there are 6 lists, from:
Myself
rumpdoll
bonnielaurel
DaveC
Rob
Moonbeam

Official deadline is the 7th but can still extend a day or two more if needed.

Based on just the first six lists, the leader is something very unexpected.

Added yours. It's actually created a near-tie for the first and second place.

Only person who's indicated they plan to submit a ballot but hasn't is Toni. Are you still planning to?

With this group of voters picking between an interesting group of albums, it's hard to imagine the final results won't be great.

List sent.

Guys, you really like female singers (that's the majority this year, right?) :D

Received Romain's ballot. Tabulating results now unless somebody tells me they just need a few more hours or something, but presentation definitely starts today.

Maybe female singers are just more likely to be less acclaimed. :)

I'm going to go exercise, when I get back in a few hours I'll finalize the vote. (Want to give Toni a final opportunity.)
