Fun topic!

Considering only acclaimed songs:

Prince - "Dirty Mind" (#6017 all-time, #1008 1980s, #26 1980)
Prince - "Erotic City" (#3275 all-time, #527 1980s, #55 1984)
Prince - "Darling Nikki" (#6988 all-time, #1175 1980s, #139 1984)
Prince - "Gett Off" (#3892 all-time, #574 1990s, #63 1991)

Really, lots of Prince songs will do the trick.

Madonna - "Justify My Love" (#2113 all-time, #287 1990s, #27 1990)
Madonna - "Erotica" (#2791 all-time, #396 1990s, #43 1992)
Janet Jackson - "If" (#3892 all-time, #574 1990s, #63 1991)
Björk - "Venus as a Boy" (#5433 all-time, #837 1990s, #74 1993)
Depeche Mode - "Master and Servant" (#3655 all-time, #579 1980s, #66 1984)
Donna Summer - "Love to Love You Baby" (#672 all-time, #166 1970s, #16 1975)
Donna Summer - "I Feel Love" (#53 all-time, #12 1970s, #3 1977)
Donna Summer - "Bad Girls" (#2238 all-time, #507 1970s, #50 1979)
Grace Jones - "Pull Up to the Bumper" (#1235 all-time, #193 1980s, #19 1981)
Mtume - "Juicy Fruit" (#4934 all-time, #810 1980s, #99 1983)
The Velvet Underground - "Venus in Furs" (#390 all-time, #120 1960s, #22 1967)
Missy Elliott - "One Minute Man" (#8122 all-time, #1070 2000s, #114 2001)
Missy Elliott - "Work It" (#747 all-time, #85 2000s, #12 2002)

A lot of others aren't explicitly sexual but fit the bill for the mood, such as "Slow" by Kylie Minogue (#4122 all-time, #484 2000s, #40 2003).

Wow. The forum is really letting their hair down on this one. It would be a mistake not to include Marvin Gaye. "Sexual Healing" and "Lets Get It On" and practically anything by Sade. Also, Janet's "Antyime, Anyplace" which does not appear in the top 10,000, but should. A couple other good contenders are Toni Braxton's "You're Making Me High" and Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game.

Interesting and fun topic. I am anticipating other's reactions and thoughts.

A song does not have to be sexually explicit to put you in the mood.

Another acclaimed one is "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails (#474 all-time, #44 1990s, #6 1994).

If we go beyond the AM top 10,000, there are a lot to choose from. Some favorites of mine are:

Kylie Minogue - "Chocolate"
Mylène Farmer - "California"
Björk - "Cocoon"

Co-sign to the Portishead comment - "Glory Box" in particular.

In personal experience, all of My Woman by Angel Olsen has worked well.

And of course, I'd be remiss to not link this absolute classic piece on Frank Ocean's Channel Orange. Definitely NSFW in terms of verbiage, but hysterical. https://www.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/co ... imp_guide/

Funniest thing I’ve read in ages. Also reminds me: has anyone mentioned the entirety of Voodoo by D’Angelo?

Some vintage choices:

Rough Trade's "Avoid Freud", particularly "High School Confidential

Ellen Foley's "Night Out"

All of Roxy Music's "Avalon" (or most anything by Bryan Ferry)

Meat Loaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light". Baseball as metaphor.

thanks for your messages - but maybe all the same it is worth to go in descending order on the rating of singles of all time, albums of all time? In any case, thanks - in extreme cases I will do it myself - on subjective perception).

Regardless of rank, songs that come to mind:

- Much of Lana Del Rey, with Video Games and West Coast as the best in this regard. Or Fucked My Way to the Top if that is your thing.
- Some type of rock sounds very sexy to me, a certain heavy but slick guitar sound. Best examples are Do I Wanna Know or most of Brothers by The Black Keys.
- Two Weeks by FKA Twigs.
- Partition by Beyoncé.
- This is Hardcore by Pulp if you're feeling freaky.
- Hot Thoughts by Spoon.

I've edited my posts to include positions on the AM list, if that helps! I'm not quite sure I understand your post - do you want a list in descending order of the AM top 10,000 including only sexual/sexy songs? If so, that would have to be a collaborative effort as I don't know many of the songs in the top 10,000. Would be a fun project, though!

I suddenly get visions of an odd project were we go through every song on AM one by one and rate them solely on sexiness. "Like a Rolling Stone - 2 out of 10 on the Erotica Meter". Vicious discussions ensue.

"Martha"
"Time"
"I Hope That I Don't Fall in Love with You"
are three songs that might disagree.

"Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis" may not in its original version, but the Neko Case cover? Whew.

Unsexiest song in the same spell of time: IDLES - Mercedes Marxist?
