Interesting. I had it as 1994, but AM has it as 1993. I guess there is a good reason for that.

I get so many good suggestions from these year polls but I rarely have one of my own.
Until now. You Am I are an Australian alternative rock band that were loved in Australia but were mostly ignored everywhere else in the world. Anyway this is their debut - Sound As Ever

Best song - Berlin Chair

They do work. I remember a few good singles from You am I, so I'll give these a listen.

Had to edit. Wanted two by Liz Phair, but I remembered What is Love.
(Also, re: Craig - wanted a spot for Berlin Chair on my list, but I don't know if I can fit it in).

Just want to share that last year's Moderately Acclaimed Album winner, Saint Etienne's So Tough, is from this year. I'll take it personally if it doesn't make it; just so you know.

Lots of great R&B/Soul songs released in 1993, especially from Jodeci. I like "Bump n Grind" by R. Kelly too but now it just left a bad taste in my mouth. So nope! And also nope to his remix of "Any Time, Any Place" which is nevertheless excellent.

Albums:

02. Slowdive | Soulvaki
03. Janet Jackson | .janet
04. Jodeci | Diary of a Mad Man
05. Yo La Tengo | Painful

06. Silk | Freak Me
07. SWV | Weak
08. Tevin Campbell | Can We Talk
09. Mazzy Star | Into Dust
10. Yo La Tengo | Big Day Coming
11. Salt 'n' Pepa with En Vogue | Whatta Man
12. Jodeci | Cry For You
13. Björk | Human Behaviour
14. Slowdive | Soulvaki Space Station
15. Jodeci | My Heart Belongs To You
16. 2Pac I Get Around ( feat. Shock G & Money B)
17. Beck | Loser
18. Whitney Houston | I'm Every Woman (Chaka Khan)
19. Xscape | Just Kickin' It

Painful is currently fighting Autechre's Incunabula (also sadly not mentioned yet) for my #3 spot.

Slowdive is doing great in this thread so far. I've always felt like I'm one of the lone Souvlaki fans on the forum so glad to see that's change. I wonder if their comeback album last year led people to (re)discover it.

Also, Bang Jan, I wish I had gotten my list in first! My top picks are very similar to yours. Maybe The Long Dance can get through--it will have at least three number one votes.

I think it is about a different group of voters. It is my #2. I didn't vote last time and neither did anyone else who voted for it so far. I do miss some of the previous voters: My #2 song Rachid Taha’s Ya Rayah hasn't received a single vote yet.

Well that is 4 songs - one more and you have the minimum of five that will make your vote count. With steviefan13 also putting "Slam" at #1, that would probably be obliging everyone to give it a fair hearing for the decade poll.

Well that is 4 songs - one more and you have the minimum of five that will make your vote count. With steviefan13 also putting "Slam" at #1, that would probably be obliging everyone to give it a fair hearing for the decade poll.
Help me out here, man.

Can I count Dreams as a 1993 song? Cuz if memory serves, I voted for it in the 1992 poll, but if it's permissible here, I'd like to give it a vote.

You voted Dreams #1 in 1992, so you can't help it in any way by voting for it again in 1993 as I would just drop your duplicate vote from the wildcard total. Best to give your favourite 1993 songs their best shot.

Just to be clear. I will accept votes for Dreams from anyone who didn't vote for it as a 1992 song (and those votes will go to help Dreams crack the wildcard list), but not from anyone whose vote for it has already been counted.
