Before Harold say something, I have written this in the Critics' lists section in case someone (or me) finds the lists that I will discuss below.
The Rolling Stone Colombia ( http://rollingstone.com.co/ ) has just published its first issue. Well, technically they "returned": The magazine was published until five years ago, but the project returns starting from scratch. There are new people behind it, and different investors. Unfortunately, the person who leads the whole project (Diego Ortiz) is a publicist, so that already gives an idea of the focus that the magazine will have. And what better example, but the first issue:
The magazine debuted with the typical list that we all here know by heart: the RS's top 500 songs of all time. But they made a big mistake, in my opinion: It's the first colombian edition, and none of the 500 greatest songs are from Latin America (Much less Colombia). I mean, such a list is acceptable in English-speaking countries, but to say they are the "best" 500, and 499 are in English... Are you kidding me, Diego? Although ok, maybe they wanted to remedy this with a small detail in the name: They did not publish it as "The greatest songs of all time" (Las más grandes canciones de todos los tiempos) but as "Great songs of all time" (Grandes canciones de todos los tiempos). They are cunning? I leave it to your opinion.
They also made a list of "50 great Colombian songs" (50 grandes canciones colombianas). The cover says that. Yes, there, in fine print, in the space left by the barcode. That list itself is appreciated, but I still do not find it complete online. If anyone finds it, please share.
To conclude: Paying for a subscription to a magazine that will only make refried foreign lists? No, thanks. I hope they improve on the following numbers. What Latin America needs in musical matters is to realize that even in their own lands music is composed, and that regional music can be equal or better than the music created in other languages.
C'mon, Rolling Stone!

Better bump it! Or at least add it to the undecided lists thread.

Not really related to the topic but can somebody fluent in Spanish tell if the list linked below is eligible:

Sadly, it was made by the public vote.StevieFan13 wrote:Looks iffyDexter wrote:Not really related to the topic but can somebody fluent in Spanish tell if the list linked below is eligible:

Actually, the songs were chosen by the videos with more views on YouTube and Andres Luque, director of Viva Colombia, filtered what he considered as "rock". The positions were 50% based on YouTube views (with a formula that balance the oldest songs) and 50% criteria of Andres Luque.
Re: Rolling Stone Colombia - 50 great Colombian songs
It's unfortunate. The Viva Colombia list would have made a nice addition to AM considering the lack of World Music lists.
