I think I will not change this, as this EP was a promo (according to RYM).

I guess this is a matter of discussion, but this is not just a remix. As said on Wikipedia "The remix has a completely different sound than the original". Also, the original and the remix have different featured artists.

Sweepstakes Ron wrote:So Duke Ellington's "Black, Brown, and Beige" is a whole symphony, and "Come Sunday" is just one movement of one of the three suites of the symphony, and then they're listed as separate songs here... is there something I'm missing?
Looking back, I think they should stay separate, because although "Come Sunday" was initially part of the larger work, it has become a standard in its own right. However, this opens up another problem.

One of the list "Come Sunday" appears on is Mauro Ronconi (Italy) - The Best Song from the 200 Best Albums (1998). I'm not certain which album it is from in this book, but I have reason to believe it's the 1958 album Black, Brown, and Beige, a revised version of the suite the features Mahalia Jackson. If so, that would be the same version as this song from Steve Sullivan's Encyclopedia of Great Popular Song Recordings, which is not listed for "Come Sunday" on AM.
stevejazz wrote:Come Sunday (July 3, 1958) - Mahalia Jackson with Duke Ellington & His Orchestra
Should that be separate from the one already listed, or not?

And to take it even further, two versions of "Black, Brown, and Beige" were mentioned in Guido Michielone's Jazz Forever.
stefanocarraro wrote:DUKE ELLINGTON - BLACK, BROWN AND BEIDGE (1943)
DUKE ELLINGTON & MAHALIA JACKSON - BLACK BROWN AND BEIDGE (1958)
The first one should obviously be counted towards the song already on AM, but what of the second one? Should that be counted as an album, even though its from a songs list?
Mauro Ronconi's song pick is taken from this compilation and I think that the Mahalia Jackson version should probably be counted separately, so no problem there.

However, I think the best approach would be to have a "Black, Brown, and Beige/Come Sunday" entry for Duke Ellington and the same for Duke Ellington & Mahalia Jackson (even though Mahalia is only featured on the album).

That sounds a bit odd, to be honest.

Where did you see 1995? Because I have listed it as "1994?". But it is from 1995 according to this page: http://rockyout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Rock ... k_and_Roll

The date on rocklist must be when the list was published there, but I had it a lot earlier. In fact, it was one of the first lists I found and I started collecting lists in...1995!

The museum proper didn't open until 1995, although the Hall has been running since 1986. But yeah, I guess that does make sense.

Jimmy Guterman (USA) - The 100 Best Rock and Roll Records of All Time (1992) which is an order one
Jimmy Guterman (USA) - The Best Rock and Roll Records (online version) which is an non order one.
Some albums are on the 2 lists but have only one entry in AM (order or non order).
Ex: The Blasters Hard Line N°91 and Rod Stewart Every Picture Tells a Story Non order (However this album is N°1 on ordered version)

is this 2 separate lists or do you make a mix between the 2 lists, cos we only find the non ordre one in critics list.
It makes confusion...
It seems like I erased the 1992 version after I found the online version where JG says that he wasn't happy with the book. I think the page for "Hard Line" just hasn't been updated.

However, the decision to remove the 1992 book seems a bit rashed now, I think.

Ok but according to this post
http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/forums/vi ... f=3&t=1332
there are not compilations and as well as in Discogs and RYM, there's no mention of this album title.
Aren't they another greek title for the albums i have mentionned ?

You keep the lou reed song on AM and not include the velvet one.
I own the magazine and the information is this:

48 Sweet Jane
Writer Lou Reed
Original version Velvet underground ( on Loaded, 1970)
Definitive version Lou Reed
Available on Rock and Roll Animal (1974)

The person at muzieklijstjes must have just assumed that the VU version was also the definitive version.
