AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
Second phase, as requested by Dexter. So, we'll go by decades, is that fine? Just comment if you have a different suggestion.

Wow, didn't realize how many of us were in the 90s. Of those of us born in that decade, I wonder how many were the first half vs the second half (I'm the second half).

1991! Born in the same year as my favorite album of all time (Loveless)
Re: AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
1992 to be specific.

I feel like an imposter; I was born in the 1950's by just three weeks. But someone has to keep Henry company.

Let's see if there is fourth from our decade brave enough to mix it up on the forum. I was born in 1956 - how about you Dave?DaveC wrote:Henry hasn't voted yet. 7/9/95, so almost the exact center!Listyguy wrote:Wow, didn't realize how many of us were in the 90s. Of those of us born in that decade, I wonder how many were the first half vs the second half (I'm the second half).
But if you wanted to be technical, you could say second half.

88 here.
As in 1988, not age.

End of a great decade for music. September of 1969.
Re: AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
Doing a bump already, as the forum is very active these days (which of course is a good thing)! Will the 80s and the 70s catch up with the 90s? Or will that decade stay ahead of the pack?
I was born in 1988, by the way.

1985. Guess I'm turning to the older half of the forum...

I am the fourth 50's. 1959, older than DocBrown, but younger than DaveC and Henry.
Re: AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
Ah, so these demographics polls are confirmation that the young Americans are taking over the forum?
If I were born two months earlier, I would've had to select the 1970s option, but I was born in February 1980 so I'm a child of the 80s.
We've played the "what song was number one on your date of birth" game before, but I'm pleased that I actually really like a couple of the songs that was at the top of the charts on the first day of my life:
"Atomic" by Blondie (#1 in the UK)
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen (#1 in the US and Canada)

Re: AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
I quite like some of the songs on my birthday as well!
"I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys (#1 in the UK)
"No Scrubs" by TLC (#1 in Australia)
"Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer (#1 in Canada)
Unfortunately, in my home country of the USA, it was Ricky Martin and "Livin' la Vida Loca," which I don't despise but don't particularly enjoy either.

Great to have four of us in the forum. I wonder if any of the other folks from the 50's have a greater affection for Velvet Underground than myselfFederico wrote:I am the fourth 50's. 1959, older than DocBrown, but younger than DaveC and Henry.

Well I think you are more passionate about them than the rest of us.
Re: AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
Actually now that I think about it there is at least one more member of our club. Rdwdbob, who generally is only seen in the weekly chart thread, shares my birthday but is one year older than me; just an interesting coincidence I noted a couple of years ago.
Re: AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
I don't share your affection. I'm really a great fan of the V.U. & Nico, for me one of the best albums ever.Henry wrote:Great to have four of us in the forum. The first year of my favorite decade for music.
More specifically, 4:29 am on 4/29/1980.

Mid-month bump!
Re: AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
Let's bump this once more. So far, the results are stable: the kids from the 1990s are dominating!
However, we totally fail to cater to the real kids and adolescents demographics. Something will have to be done to push Hilary Duff on the website

Happy to break the tie for second place between the 70's and 80's.
Synchronicity was (supposedly) released on my birthday so I'm not surprised.

Playing the Billboard game
TLC - "Creep" was #1 Hot 100 on my birthday!
Garth Brooks - The Hits was #1 on the Top 200 and Green Day's Dookie at #2
Green Day - "When I Come Around" #1 on the Alternative Chart.
So it's kinda cool, like I was born to love them haha.

1986, although I included only a handful of 80s albums in my AT list.
Re: AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
Last bump! Tomorrow we'll be starting the last demographics poll, about genders.
Re: AM demographics poll 2017 - age of the members
Time to finish this one. Apparently, the final conclusion is that the forum's population is young, although there's probably not much crossover with the Disney radio demographics. I had a small hope in the last days that the 1980s would catch up, but we're still 3 members short!
And now for the last part of the demographics poll, the gender poll!
