Rock Sound: 101 Modern Classics 1997-2012 (UK, 2012)

Post by Pierre »

Running joke: another list just jumped at my face like a facehugger from Alien (oh, and Covenant sucks as a movie, by the way, just like pretty much everything made with the franchise on screen since David Fincher's one). Anyway, I was looking at Wikipedia's page for Converge's Jane Doe and there was a list of accolades featuring a list I didn't know from a magazine I didn't know either. The Rock Sound here is apparently an UK offshoot of the French mag of the same name, of which a list is already featured on AM. This one dates back from 2012 and was a list of the "101 modern classics" from the last 15 years (subtitled "the definitive albums you must own"). Unless my maths suck, it's 1997-2012 (there's one from 1995, though). I was going to just skip it, but I saw that #1 was Hybrid Theory and it just started to feel very awkward in the current context (this album at #1 already being weird notwithstanding). So, well, felt compelled to post it, and there you have it. Consider me posting this list as a tribute to Chester Bennington or whatever.

And also, talking about math, oh boy. And I hope you got your 16-years-old emo self still available somewhere.

I don't want to say stupid things, but I believe that a one-album-per-act rule is in place.

I have a 30-song Linkin Park list that I'll probably also just leave here until the next update. Like Chris Cornell, leave it to an artist's death to get the lists flowing.

If there are 50 listenable Motley Crue songs, there are 30 listenable Linkin Park songs.
