Nothing that surprising, except Dylan in the top 10. Also thought Swans may have a better showing here. I would have preferred Actress getting another top placement, 2 listens into the Laurel Halo album and it's the second year in a row I'm disappointed by Wire's number 1 (usually a reliable favorite for me).

Didn't mind Quarantine at all and listened to it a lot when it was initially released but I can understand your sentiment. It's quite the Marmite record considering the mixed rep it's received amongst other friends.

And yeah, as much as I like it R.I.P. would probably place higher in my list too.

;)

I love that Channel Orange is so thoroughly dominant that even Wire put it in their top 50.

I feel like a lot of times more mainstream rap/R&B albums do well with The Wire (see Kendrick Lamar and Killer Mike on this list too). To look at it cynically, maybe their taste in 'black music' isn't as comprehensive as their taste in 'white music.' Though I will say there are some similarities between some more mainstream rap/R&B albums and the leftfield electronica that dominates The Wire.

Suicidal anime characters with the same pigmentation of the Simpsons on top of a multicolored grid of squares that came straight of a bad acid trip? Makes enough sense.

That cover just about sums up her aesthetic perfectly. Nothing is much better this year, though I like Andy Stott's cover.

Also, how the hell is that Death Grips album third on that cover list? What about that is exactly appealing? Not even a funny joke.
