Hmm... For albums I think I will only include the hard rock + metal decade lists (hey, you forgot the 80s one: Top 80 Hard Rock + Metal Albums of the 1980s), as they seem to include all styles they're interested in, and regard everything else as genre lists. Even the all time metal list that I previously deemed eligible should probably be "replaced" by the hard rock + metal lists.

For songs however, it seems a little harsh to not include anything, so I might include the two lists mentioned above.

Any thoughts on this?

It would be great if the top 80 of the 80s lists could be transcribed to the forum. Thanks in advance!

Pretty cool, this should help the Latin scene a bit :music-guitarred:

Songs lists:

Eddie Trunk's Essential Hard Rock and Heavy Metal (2011)
http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/forums/vi ... f=3&t=4586 Not eligible - The lists are both shorter than top 30s and compiled by a single author. It might be included in the future, if at some point all lists together could be seen as an overall essential hard rock and heavy metal list. But that seems like a stretch at the moment, since there's supposedly a third volume coming out.

Figured as much for Eddie Trunk's, I hoped it would help hard rock and heavy metal's showing song-wise, but I understand your rationale. At least the Rock Hard Magazine list is eligible.

Absolutely beyond awesome (although I'd lie if I said it was unexpected :D ). This should give a ridiculous push to heavy metal and hard rock, and hopefully some Euro-rock will manage to squeeze in a few bubblers.

I think the songs lists should be included, if only because as I said above these genres rarely have songs lists. Regarding the top 80 of the 1980s, I'll be writing it down right now. Then I'll transfer the lists I posted to the Summary of All-Time Lists to be Added :)

Edit: done and done :)

And as usual, ask if you need help with any of these.

Greatest bootleg albums (three lists - NME/Uncut/The AV Club):

Probably not eligible, I know, but I'm pretty sure there's no stated rule about it yet, so it's a good occasion to make one up.

NME - The 50 Greatest Live Albums Ever (2014):

Muziq - 101 essential live discs (2008):

I forgot to regroup these ones with my topic, I had posted them on the first page of the thread, but they got lost in the crowd :? Sorry Henrik!

Thanks for the word back, Henrik! The only reason I didn't include the '80s list was because I already saw it declared eligible (and lord knows I've accidentally posted lists twice enough  ). So, this means that the eligible lists are:
Top 90 Hard Rock + Metal Albums of the 1990s
Top 100 Hard Rock + Metal Albums of the 21st Century
Top 70 Hard Rock + Metal Albums of the 1970s
10 Heaviest Albums of the the 1970s (Not Recorded by Black Sabbath)
The Best Metal Album of Each Year Since 1970 (maybe? though yeah, the all-time list could make it redundant, though this one has a larger scope than that one)
10 Best Thrash Metal Albums of the 1990s
Top 50 Hard Rock Songs of the 21st Century
Top 50 Metal Songs of the 21st Century
And not the rest? I definitely get it (I thought I was pushing it with the punk one). What about the 1987/1997/2007 lists? Because if year lists from after the year profiled are ineligible, than hoo boy, that was a lot of transcribing from Diffuser I didn't need to do...

Sort of understood they were eligible, since Henrik accepted Roadie Crew's list of the 80 best albums of 1980. Maybe he doesn't take those Loudwire lists because they're only 10 albums long?

I was actually thinking that only the decade lists would be eligible, as they are the only ones called "hard rock + metal".

Phew!!! But was that all? There seem to be more new topics in the critics lists forum. If someone could make a complete summary of undecided lists (if any) that would be great...!

There's still this last little batch from me (sorry again!):
Pierre wrote:Greatest bootleg albums (three lists - NME/Uncut/The AV Club):

Probably not eligible, I know, but I'm pretty sure there's no stated rule about it yet, so it's a good occasion to make one up.

NME - The 50 Greatest Live Albums Ever (2014):

http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/forums/vi ... f=3&t=4162

Muziq - 101 essential live discs (2008):

And this one posted by Rob:
Rob wrote: Robert Haagsma - The Golden Years of Dutch Pop Music http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/forums/vi ... f=3&t=4648
Also, the lists posted by panam, EmilienDelRey and maybe lagire, but I didn't keep track of them.

BTW, there's one more list I'm thinking of posting that's almost definitely eligible, but I don't want to add it if it means too much more work for you.

I think there are several lists that were posted by others than you, StevieFan and Pierre. Maybe a lot by panam. Right now on the critics' lists first page I see for example Q debut albums, La Tempestad and XXL's "30 Albums That Will Make You Appreciate Hip-Hop".

Absolutely. I mentioned it just above, as I indicated a Rob list and a few remaining from me that I believed a number of lists by panam and maybe lagire and EmilienDelRey were still out there. If they don't post them themselves, I guess we'll just have to hunt them down. I may do it later.

Someone shared Billboard's ranking of the platinum albums on this page. The XXL list has already been deemed eligible (it's on the summary page).

Also, some confirmed lists might be moved to the Summary of All-Time lists to be added, so Henrik doesn't have to check every summary topics. At this point it seems more simple, but that's only me.

StevieFan13, I didn't transfer the lists Henrik approved that you brought up, except for the Spinetta and García ones, to the Summary of lists to be added; I only took care of mine. May you do it?

During my search, I found a number of eligible lists which weren't added to the Summary of All-Time lists to be added. I will have to do a second search for them later to re-post the links, unless a kind soul does it instead.

Technically there's already a precedent on AM with Danger Mouse's Grey Album, but I agree it can come into conflict with the site's definition about compilations. Checking what has already been released before, the original dates of surfacing of the bootlegs can be a chore. Then again, it can be decided that the rule is more lax for these because of the more lax nature of these releases as well...

Here's my opinion: the website is about acclaimed music, but nothing states that only official releases have the right to be acclaimed - even critics have been occasionally acclaiming the Beach Boys' Smile or David Bowie's Santa Monica '72 before these were actually released (though this implies an additional issue, whether acclaim for bootleg releases must be cumulated to the official ones if they happened or kept separate). Furthermore, it could add even more exotic colours to the website's (admittedly already) rich scope. However, as I said, it would probably require extreme leniency for it not to become a chore: I'd go as far as ignoring the task of tracing whether the material had previously been released and maybe even not looking for release dates. I don't know. It probably depends on whether you find the implications for your own workload too complex, but no matter what, few of these releases have a realistic shot of making it to AM, I guess.

During my search, I found a number of eligible lists which weren't added to the Summary of All-Time lists to be added. I will have to do a second search for them later to re-post the links, unless a kind soul does it instead.
Thanks Henrik, I replied to those ones:

Smithsonian Institution - American Sabor - Songs Selected

Well, some activity around here. Thanks a lot Henrik for the detailed answers. Some of the lists from the new batch of approved stuff I'll add to the spreadsheet, though I won't do everything. Thanks again.

I'm more disappointed by the lack of "Everybody's Got Something to Hide (Except Me and My Monkey)."
