2. Leonard Cohen - "Everybody Knows"
1. Maestro Fresh Wes - "Let Your Backbone Slide"

So, let's see...1 song per artist, yet Rush, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young all chart pretty low (no Nickelback this time, at the very least, and no Bieber). I'm glad Metric made the cut, as I find them way too underrated. But 1) good as it is, is Let Your Backbone Slide really the best Canadian song ever? Better than The Weight or Hallelujah?, 2) I'm surprised there's no Rufus Wainwright, Main Source (while we're talking Canadian rap), or Avril Lavigne, all of whom are ten times better than Paul Anka (at least they didn't put Havin' My Baby), and 3) is Started from the Bottom really the best Drake song they could think of? Not Take Care?

Just found out that HuffPost Canada has, indeed, made a 50 Worst Canadian Songs list as a companion. onto which Bieber, Nickelback, and "Havin' My Baby" all make the cut:
http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/07/28 ... 75538.html

Funny enough, I thought the best songs list was missing a little Shania Twain and Avril Lavigne (though Hello Kitty is, and always shall be, the worst). I forgot Robin Thicke was Canadian. Bryan Adams' worst song is, very clearly, "Everything I Do (I Do for You)."

"Everything I Do" is actually my favourite Bryan Adams song, so I'll respectfully disagree. Interestingly enough, Adams is one of my wife's favourite artists, and singles out "Have You Ever Loved a Woman" as her least favourite song of his. I personally think that "Cuts Like a Knife" contains his most cringe-worthy lyrics, followed by the more obvious "The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You." "Kids Wanna Rock" grates on my nerves, and the thought of Adams re-recording "When You're Gone" with Pamela Anderson for his Anthology compilation is somewhat depressing.

For those of you interested in seeing the bottom 50 without having to look at 50 separate pages, here is the condensed list:

50. "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" - Shania Twain
49. "Breathe" - Moist
48. "Inner Ninja" - Classified featuring David Myles
47. "Blurred Lines" - Robin Thicke featuring T.I., Pharrell
46. "(You’re) Having My Baby" - Paul Anka
45. "Roll The Bones" - Rush
44. "Song X" - Neil Young
43. "If Rap Gets Jealous" - K’Naan featuring Kirk Hammett
42. "Jazz Police" - Leonard Cohen
41. "Fallout" - Marianas Trench
40. "I’m Just A Kid" - Simple Plan
39. "Spadina Bus" - Shuffle Demons
38. "Love Monkey #9" - Bootsauce
37. "Pick It Up And Dial It" - Sloan
36. "Rise Again" - The Rankin Family
35. "King of Spain" - Moxy Fruvous
34. "Dancin’ Clown" - Joni Mitchell
33. "Pain" - Three Days Grace
32. "Red Hair" - Shawn Desman
31. "Africa" - Karl Wolf featuring Culture
30. "Be My Squeeze Toy" - Boomtang Boys
29. "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" - Crash Test Dummies
28. "I Cry" - Bass Is Base
27. "Skidrow" - Serial Joe
26. "I Don't Know" - The Sheepdogs
25. "Bitch Came Back" - Theory of a Deadman
24. "Pedal To The Metal" - Kazzer
23. "No Means No" - Ricky J
22. "A Hundred Million" - Treble Charger
21. "Broken Bones" - Love Inc
20. "Some Kinda Wonderful" - Sky
19. "Signs" - Five Man Electrical Band
18. "Kimosabe" - Kim Mitchell
17. "Porn Star Dancing" - My Darkest Days feat. Ludacris, Zakk Wylde
16. "It’s My Neighbourhood" - Len
15. "One Week" - Barenaked Ladies
14. "Get Down" - B4-4
13. "In Repair" - Our Lady Peace
12. "My Heart Will Go On" - Celine Dion
11. "Fire In The Head" - The Tea Party
10. "Too Hot To Hold" - Alanis Morisette
9. "Have You Ever Loved A Woman" - Bryan Adams
8. "Bad Day" - Daniel Powter
7. "Rock 'em Sock 'em Techno" - Don Cherry
6. "Hello Kitty" - Avril Lavigne
5. "Come On" - Chuggo
4. "Baby" - Justin Bieber
3. "Rude" - Magic!
2. "Sometimes When We Touch" - Dan Hill
1. "Figured You Out" - Nickelback

Nice to see Nickelback, Justin Bieber and Daniel Powter in the top 10. I would have preferred to see "My Heart Will Go On" in the top tier as well. I don't think "Sometimes When We Touch," "Rude," "One Week," "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm," or "Blurred Lines" are quite that bad, and in my opinion, Five Man Electrical Band's "Signs," while some of its implausible lyrics have been a source of ridicule for comedians, certainly doesn't belong in the Worst 50 of all time.

Agree to disagree. I just don't like Bryan Adams.

I wouldn't even say the Simple Plan song they picked is their worst. "Welcome to My Life" is bottom-10 material if I ever saw any. I actually kinda like "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" and "One Week" (then again, I've heard the latter more times than I can count). I also forgot Len were Canadian - "Steal My Sunshine" should've been on the best list (and they should've cleared some room on the worst list for "Informer," IMO).

Just want to add that I'm glad to see Magic!'s Rude on a worst-of list. When it became an ubiquitous hit a couple of years ago I couldn't believe my ears. It's about as bad a song as ever has been made. Especially the writing of the lyrics could be taught in songwriting classes as a warning for how even a simple story can be told in an convoluted way.

In that case, I think you'll like this:
