Crap, I forgot again, I worked on it quite a bit for about a month and then got a new computer and forgot about it. I was going to submit what I had, but since I don't use that computer anymore it just slipped my mind again. I'd love to submit it, but I'm pretty sure you're already well into compiling everything. Next time.

After a quick browsing, I expect B.O.B and Sea Song to do very well this time !

I love Jackson, beefsupreme and kingoftonga lists ! (and Nick's, Brad's and Zorg's too). Well, I tend to love the lists with more post punk era songs than oldies.

Just saw this post. Sorry for not participating this time, nor in the 90s polls. For the last couple of months I've been very busy, and in fact I still am. But who knows, possibly in the future I'll have more time to be more active again on the forum. Bless ya all!

My average year is 1987. I really do think the 90s were the best time for music, though 66-74 is obviously very impressive and makes up quite a bit of my list.

Nassim: I also noticed B.O.B. doing very well. I'm sure it will outpace Hey Ya this time and be the top ranked track from the 2000s, though All My Friends also did very well.

Well, it depends on what styles you prefer. As a pre-punk fan, I tend to cherish the 1965-1975 era, but also the 50's (very impressive pre-rock era with jazz, world, chanson, blues, country, r&b...), and the prewar years too.

Yesterday I saw a James Ellroy itw in which he was saying that it's a common phenomenon to feel attracted by the era just before you were born. I was born in 1970 so it's not all wrong...

I think that there are a lot of great music in every decade, with "gaps" sometimes (ex : the early sixties, except for jazz, maybe the late 80's). But as a "roots music" fan I tend to prefer the pre-1975 era. THings I love after 1975 are most of the time connected to the past (but with an average of '74 in fact there are many songs from after 75 in my list, thanks to this forum)

The average year of my list is 1972. It used to be later than that, but then I started spending time with the 1950s and pre-1950s AMF polls...

Edit:... and my median is 1969.

The median is also 1974. Not counting classical music, the average becomes 1978 but the median is almost the same as before, 1975.

My median is 1972. more relevant because in my list I have some classical stuff dated from 18th and 19th centuries.

Oh, yes, Otis, I know. And I'm so sorry for not having found time enough to participate. But the worst part is that I haven't found time also to dig deep in your wonderful lists (as I promised and I really wanted to do). Anyway I'll try to follow the posting of the results, it's going to be a fascinating trip for sure.

Any "guilty pleasures" on your lists? Songs so accessible they go down like free beer at a frat party? Songs that gives you breathing space and encourages you to carry on as you dl a users whole 3800+ songs (and counting) list filled with difficult, inaccessible, artistic and pretentious art music and obscure psychedelic b-sides, you name it.

Does anyone have the Top 200 of the 2010 all-time songs poll that Jackson hosted? I can get 1000-201 from the old site, but for some reason the topic gets cut off after 2 pages. I'd like to reference this list with the rollout...thanks in advance!

I can't find the original thread, but the individual lists thread lists the entire top 500.

I'm getting close everyone, thanks for your patience. This weekend is a holiday here in the states, so I'm targeting Monday for the rollout to begin. Work continues to be crazy, so it will be sporadic, but it will happen.
