AMF Weekly Chart 17.2

Post by spiritualized »

Hello to all and welcome to the second instalment of the weekly AMF chart for 2017.

It's with little surprise that David Bowie clinches the top spot for the anniversary of his passing. It is bound to last a while ! As usual for a new winner, a little write-up is added to this chart on the artist and the song itself.

Meanwhile, Nick Cave and ATCQ are sharing the rest of the podium. New entries are far and few between, with The xx showing their hand quite well.
ATCQ 's Conrad Tokyo makes it way as the first nominee for the Hall of Fame 2017 !

I thank you for all the nominations, sadly one couldn't make it.

On David Bowie : The mercurial music icon widely considered the original pop chameleon and figurehead for countless musical movements.

On "No Plan" : The first of the new trio of Bowie’s final works No Plan sets Bowie in a position that yearns for something not quite there, a song that implements the Thomas Newton character and his never ending isolation in the Lazarus play. There’s an air of resignation in Bowie’s strained vocal, but in consideration to the fact he didn’t know of his fate at the time of recording, it owes a lot to the overall mood that the Donny McCaslin band brought to the music

'Lipslap' isn't eligible even if it's part of an album released in September?

Sorry Emilien, I didn't see it was part of a newly released album.

Rule :
"all songs six months old and younger (or who have received promotion via album/video/single in the last six months) are accepted!"

I will add it as a nomination for this week if you are happy with it ?

:text-bump: A little bump to get more votes in :)

And an opportunity to add a couple more nominations

VANT : DO YOU KNOW ME - a year old song with a new video. Discovered this English indie-rock band on Spotify. Short and refreshing sound.
Nine Inch Nails - Branches / Bones - I still have something for Trent Reznor's voice. A very short track, but to the point.
