Thanks Nassim!

I had a quick look at the rest of the list and there are so many of my favorites here! And other forumers' favorites too such as "The Creator Has a Master Plan"! If we ever do an all-time critics' list poll I think this list could be a strong contender. I can't wait to get home and add this list to my spreasheet!

(But what is "Be My Baby" doing down at #61?)

I still think it's a fantastic list. "Waitin' Around to Die", "The Ecstasy of Gold", "Le temps de l'amour", the list could go on...

But, there's no Rolling Stones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder if it's a mistake or a statement.

Also, given they included Hardy, Gainsbourg&Birkin and Dutronc, I wish they had also found a spot for Jacques Brel.

Some of the choices on this list made me feel like the writers looked at our all-time song poll from last year while making this. It's a really cool, varied list (and it's always great to see love for "Egyptian Shumba").

Any more songs added to AM from this list?

Exactly!

I usually like Treble lists a lot, probably my favorite since OneThirtyBPM closed. I particularly liked their "greatest guitarists" and "greatest drummers" ones, very different from the one you usually see.

That's the limit of their "counter-culture" criteria I think, they pretty much state in the Be My Baby, Try a Little Tenderness or Whole Lotta Love texts "ok, that's not really counter-culture, but they're still great so we had to include them".

I agree with everyone else, amazing list. You never see most of these songs get any attention.

How in the world has this not appeared on lists before? Aside from being awesome, it's famous to the point of being featured in multiple widely aired U.S. commercials in 2016.

A really great list, though the lack of Stones as Henrik pointed out is shocking. Don't really know why that would be a statement...they were pretty counter-culture then (if indeed popular).

Aside from that, my only disappointments were no United States of America or Moondog, who would've been perfect in the context of this list, and no Penderecki, only because they acknowledged Ligeti. (That last one is a smaller quibble, of course.)

Probably because a lot of lists don't put OST on their lists. ;-)

Whatever... like most of you, I found this list excellent.

I found a spotify playlist on Treble's Spotify account with all the nominated songs for the poll:

...including Coltrane's "Part II: Resolution" (and not Part I). :?

Anyway, thanks for this finding, EmilienDelRey! Lots of more good songs beyond the final top 100 on the playlist. But does anyone think that this longer list should be added to AM?

There may have been other songs not on Spotify that were considered, so unless there's an official post on the website with the full list, I'd hold off on it.

I mixed this up with Paste's '60s list. In this list it is has always been "Part II: Resolution".
