1. Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes vs. King Crimson - Red
I think without "Starless", Little Earthquakes would have surpassed Red. But, well, it didn't.
2. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations vs. Haim - Days Are Gone
God now this is a hard matchup. Both albums I dearly love, one of which I've loved for a very long time, one of which for just a few years. I do think I'll give this one to my middle school self.
3. Roxy Music - Manifesto vs. Jim O'Rourke - Eureka
Eureka wins for its much greater willingness to get weird than Roxy Music's comparatively bland record.
4. Kaki King - Everybody Loves You vs. Duke Ellington & His Orchestra - Masterpieces by Ellington
Time for some sacrilege: while Duke may be a better bandleader, Kaki's a better performer - although it's a very, very close competition.

Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
Brutally close matchup between two of my favorites. "Starless" is my favorite song on either album, but Tori has the next three with "Winter," "Girl," and "Precious Things."

Still waiting for someone to guess the second highest ranked album. A second and third clue: a) it's from an American band and b) it passed to the second round. So we have an album from an American four-member band on the second round. This narrows the possibilities from 21 to 5. Any taker? If not the fourth clue will be definitive.

No wonder I struggled with this. I don't even think I had "Stop Making Sense" on my list of possibilities. It's really surprising that a Talking Heads album (even a live one) would be rated below so many others.

Match-ups:
1. Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes vs. King Crimson - Red
Far more interesting from King Crimson. Things are happening in this record, whilst Tori is gentle listening, but doesn't move me much.
2. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations vs. Haim - Days Are Gone
Second listen of "Days are Gone" vs an established rock act and I am still unconvinced, although My Song 5 is rather good
3. Roxy Music - Manifesto vs. Jim O'Rourke - Eureka
Some good songs in "Manifesto" - but too much filler too, whilst Eureka is very solid
4. Kaki King - Everybody Loves You vs. Duke Ellington & His Orchestra - Masterpieces by Ellington
Not exactly fussed by either of those
