But first, allow us to qualify our countdown with a few rules of eligibility: We only included songs that were given an official retail release — that means tracks featured on studio albums, EPs, and compilations, plus guest verses; we didn’t consult mixtapes or unofficial freestyles, so we offer our deepest apologies to “Nail in the Coffin,” “Til Hell Freezes Over,” and other noteworthy rarities. Skits weren’t considered, either (condolences to all the Ken Kaniff and Steve Berman die-hards out there). Obviously, we only considered D12 tracks that featured a verse or hook from Eminem. And, finally, if there were multiple versions of a track, we opted to include the rendition we thought superior, so don’t expect to see the live Grammy performance of “Stan” or The Slim Shady EP’s “Just the Two of Us.” And with that, we begin the Eminem show…

2. “Kill You” (The Marshall Mathers LP, 2000)
1. “Forgot About Dre” (Dr. Dre feat. Eminem, 2001, 1999)

comment: I like "Forgot About Dre" a lot, top 10 material, but no way is it Eminem's best song and "Lose Yourself" ought to be in the top 10. This list is bonkers, like they ranked it by shuffling their Eminem music library. The good thing is that the songs that obviously cater to pop radio (but not offering something different) are nowhere near the top (ex: "Lighters", "Love the Way You Lie", "The Monster", "I Need a Doctor")

I don't know. I think this list is not all that bad.

I'm sorry, but no way is the top three better than all his others especially Lose Yourself, My Name Is, and some others. But I did like that Stan, a song I never got into, isn't in first place.

Gotta agree here. Forgot About Dre :? It's not even Em's song or from his album. And Kill You is one of my least favorite off of MMLP. I used an acronym again.

Okay yeah. Nevermind. Save for the top three, the rest of the list isn't all that bad.

Some of my thoughts on the list:

279. “I Need a Doctor” (Dr. Dre feat. Eminem and Skylar Grey, “I Need a Doctor” Single, 2011)
Before I started reading the list, I was honestly expecting to see this close to the top ten, not the bottom.

242. “When I’m Gone” (Curtain Call: The Hits, 2005)
This is one of my favourite Eminem songs, and it always surprised me how it was never more warmly received. A shame it finishes this low.

215. “Love the Way You Lie” feat. Rihanna (Recovery, 2010)
Can't stand Rihanna, and this song didn't do much for me. Even though it was one of his biggest hits, I'm not disappointed to see it finish this low.

202. “My Band” (D12, D12 World, 2004)
It's not his best song, but surely this should be higher on the list.

180. “Not Afraid” (Recovery, 2010)
171. “Smack That” (Akon feat. Eminem, Konvicted, 2006)
More hit songs that didn't do much for me. I'm not disappointed they finish this low.

159. “Just Lose It” (Encore, 2004)
Even though #159 isn't very high, "Just Lose It" has to be one of his worst hit songs. Should be closer to the bottom of the list.

153. “Hailie’s Song” (The Eminem Show, 2002)
An underrated song that should have been ranked higher on the list.

137. “My Dad’s Gone Crazy” (The Eminem Show, 2002)
While I wasn't expecting a high placement, this song is quite entertaining, and it would have been a pleasant surprise to see it crack the top 100.

100. “Superman” feat. Dina Rae (The Eminem Show, 2002)
I was never crazy about this song, and it always surprised me that it was chosen as a single. I would have ranked this lower on the list.

59. “Without Me” (The Eminem Show, 2002)
This should definitely have been in the top 20, maybe even top 10.

15. “The Real Slim Shady” (The Marshall Mathers LP, 2000)
Probably should have been in the top 10.

11. “Lose Yourself” (Music From and Inspired By the Motion Picture 8 Mile, 2002)
This is one of only a few songs that I would have guessed as the #1 position. Very odd it's not even in the top 10. Should be top 3, easily.

6. “Stan” (The Marshall Mathers LP, 2000)
While I wouldn't personally place it at #1, it is currently his most acclaimed song, so I was expecting this to finish higher, and one of my first guesses for the top slot.

5. “My Name Is” (The Slim Shady LP, 1999)
While top 5 is very respectable, I would have put this in the top 3.

I don't get why more people don't like Berzerk. That's one of my favorites.
