Dying to get my hands on this. So much so i couldn't actually sleep last night, knowing that Londoners have probably got it before me, in my tiny little village.

I feel this was a big opportunity wasted; Uncut appears to have gone the way of Rolling Stone, sadly. Only 7 albums since 1990 in the entire Top 100? Pathetic. And no Flaming Lips, which is a shocker. I remember Uncut gushing over Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi.

Even Rolling Stone is more reasonable than this. Only 1 album from the past 25 years in the top 50? Are you kidding me, Uncut?

Yeah I agree...Nonetheless, every reader of this fantastic magazine know their fondness for classic rock, namely before NEVERMIND erupted...circa 1963-1991...I think they just should have titled the list in other words: Best classic rock albums OR Roots of Rock until NEVERMIND...and not include any albums after 1991...I'm pretty sure they have an explanation for this in their editor's note...Great list though !!!

I really like this list, and I find it fair, that there aren't all those many artists from recent years (I would probably include one or two in my own list), because these have been comparitively less really great acts, as compared to earlier years. There are a lot of flaws in this list, but I prefer it to lists by other magazines such as NME, because it seems more unbiased.

I'm very happy, though, to see Rock Bottom at 40.

A few things I like about the list:

In Rainbows > OK Computer > Kid A
Hunky Dory > Ziggy Stardust
Loaded at a respectable #54
A very nice representation of Bowie only a few weeks before his passing
Sign O the Times > Purple Rain
Kind of Blue @ #14

A few things I dislike about the list:

Only 1 U2 album (no Joshua Tree or War?)
Only 1 solo Beatles album (no All Things Must Pass, Imagine or Band on the Run)
Abbey Road only the 5th best Beatles album?
Off the Wall > Thriller
No Elton John, White Stripes, Kanye West, Arcade Fire or Green Day
Piper & Dark Side of the Moon the only Pink Floyd albums represented
No Odessey & Oracle
The Bends is missing

A few things I find surprising:
Forever Changes #6
Parallel Lines #58
You Can’t Hide Your Love Forever #65
The Madcap Laughs #130
Nevermind is missing

The third Katz produced album is Fagen's Nightfly. I agree though, where the heck IS Aja ( or Pretzel Logic for that matter ) !
