The top 10 songs from last week's chart went through to this week's. Though we all may be transitioning over into the new year, the chart itself is definitely staying very 2015 with nine solid entries that have all made it past their fifth week! How many of them will make the Hall of Fame before a new crowd takes over the reins? Who's to say. But the nomination pool is full of slim pickings and dated entries, so perhaps those odds are a little more solid than expected.

2015 Chart-Toppers by Week (by vote count, not chart position; total weeks atop chart in parentheses):
1. Alvvays - "Archie, Marry Me" (2) / Kanye West feat. Paul McCartney - "Only One"

Here is this week's 19-song Spotify chart (with 1 song included below via external link):

The Rubens - "The Night Is on My Side"

Here is your 2016 AMF Chart playlist of all songs on the chart so far this year:

Thank you all for voting and nominating continuously every week! Please don't be afraid to supply us with nominations - all songs six months old and younger (or who have received promotion via album/video/single in the last six months) are accepted! And seconding nominations by others gives those songs a better chance at making the next poll!

As per usual, the next poll will be created as close to Sunday at 19:00 UTC as I can make it. Best of voting! :D

Re: AMF Chart Week 1 2016

Post by Setherex »

As I stated above, this entry marks the 100th week of the AMF Chart since its beginning in January 2014 (in a sense - some "weeks" in 2014 went longer than seven days, so I'm counting number of topics rather than strict calendar periods).

I want to say a huge thanks to former Chart creators Henrik and guigs2910, whom without this Chart would not be continuing today, and Otisredding, who always helps our Chart by hosting the wonderful MegaCritic Chart over yonder.

And another huge thanks to all of the posters, voters and nominations who keep the Chart running. This topic remains the biggest celebration of new, of-the-moment music on the AM site, and I'm very happy to keep hosting it until I am no longer able. I'm glad you all trust me with such an honor :music-listening:

So here's to another 100! Nominees have been sparse over the holiday season as well, a few of the entries this week have been taken from past Charts with extra nominees. So please keep fueling our Chart with more great selections! I look forward to seeing what 2016 has in store for us :music-rockon: :music-rockon: :happy-wavemulticolor:

I would love to nominate "Warts" by Hinds!

EDIT: Also, is it possible to renominate "Under The Sun" by DIIV? I didn't get the chance to vote for it last week, and I was not the original nominator.

Thanks everyone for all the New Years love! It's always a beautiful thing when a big turnout comes to the weekly poll :D

Just a reminder to all that the above two songs are repeaters on the Chart, so they will require two seconding nominations to re-appear! And there's still plenty of time left for noms all around :music-listening:

Also a nomination of Charts past! One of mine, I believe, like the other two suggested repeat noms this week. I wish all of you supported my nominations when they were still on the charts, they would have all performed much better :D

In that case I second the re-nomination of David Bowie's Lazarus and I third Radiohead's Spectre (both songs are definite AM 6000 candidates).

And best wishes for 2016 and thanks for all your great AMF chart work so far and keeping it up for the future, Setherex!

Ah, that's a pity! I tend to be a bit late when it comes to discovering new songs. Well, relatively late compared to some of you guys anyway. I don't think a lot of folks that I know have heard the song, or even know Bowie is releasing a new album for that matter.

Timing is not unimportant when nominating songs for this game.
