AM UPDATE 2015
Henrik, can we expect the long awaited update for June ?
Re: AM UPDATE 2015
The update happened in July last year if I remember correctly, so I wouldn't get too excited just yet. However, that was the big update that expanded the songs list, so I could be wrong.
Re: AM UPDATE 2015
I also think it's a bit early. If Henrik decides to include all the international album lists this year, it's going to be a ton of new entries, which means it will take some time no matter what. Besides, he still needs help with classifying the acts listed on AM as either bands or artists (I'm working on it right now, but as I said earlier in the dedicated topic, if someone else wants to help, it would be great).

June, no.
There will be an update but when it's going to be, I don't know. A longer reply with follow another day.

Re: AM UPDATE 2015
Sorry for keeping you waiting over a week for the follow-up to my post above.
Long-time members might remember me complaining over problems with my back, neck and arms/hands several years ago. Since then my problems have overall worsened rather than disappeared. In 2012 I got a pain in my feet that has been so bad that I haven't been able to walk or (especially) stand very much since then. I had to cancel a holiday trip in 2013 with Dan, Honorio and Nicolas because of my feet. I still haven't met Dan!
The feet pain took over some of the back pain, so sitting has been better than standing during these years, and therefore I have continued to spend a lot of time at my computer.
During 2012-2014 most doctors believed that I had plantar fasciitis, but everything I did to get rid of the plantar fasciitis (stretching etc) only worsened the pain.
But since this winter I run in water almost every day, which has improved my condition and blood circulation, and is probably the main reason why the feet are slowly getting better now. The training has been quite tough for the rest of my stiff body though, so I have rested a lot during the last months. And when I have spent time at the computer I have often felt that my body really doesn't like it. Any static or monotonous work, standing or sitting, is a bit difficult at the moment. Especially in the evenings (i.e. my spare time) when my body is tired.
No doctor has been able to explain the source to my pain, but I might have just recently found it myself: Ankylosing spondylitis, which progresses slowly, usually in the lower back and sometimes also cause pain in the plantar fasciitis.
I hope you agree with me that my health is more important than the website. I haven't given up hope though. I will try to get some work done during my summer holiday. The annoying thing is that before I slowed down (stopped, actually) the work on the site, I worked on some great site enhancements that I really want to share with you!
I have also included a lot of all-time lists, but I have not added any additional pre-2014 albums or songs which is a very timeconsuming bit. I think I will have to skip that. Also, I haven't included the 2014 EOY lists to the all-time data yet. That's necessary of course, so that's the main work left.
It might be difficult to share any of the work, but I'll see what I can do if anyone wants to help.

Yes of course health is the most important thing. I hope you get well soon!Henrik wrote:the post above
I hope you could get doctors to confirm that you have the disease you suspect you have and you could start getting medication for it.
And yes I think maybe sharing some of the work would be good, if someone wants to help and it can be arranged. One reason is that then it would be less stress on you.
Edit: And yeah definitely if it didn't come across, get your health in order first and don't stress about this at all!

It's hard to explain what you are to me, Henrik. We do not know personally, but you're a person that I appreciate. You have created the best web music in the world, with whom I have spent hundreds of hours in recent years to discover new music and "knowing" wonderful people.(and, although not enough, AM also serves to learn English).
Hopefully soon improve your health. Good luck.

Re: AM UPDATE 2015
Hello Henrik. Thank you for letting us know, and sorry to hear about your ongoing health issues. Experiencing pain and being physically restricted is hard. Over the past 8 months or so I’ve witnessed my dad going through that in an extreme way. But, like you, his head is in the right place and he is maintaining a positive attitude through his recovery process.
Please don’t make your current circumstances any worse by stressing about the site update. Your health is, of course, much more important. Besides, your previous update has given us soooooooo much to delve into, and I’m sure many people are still exploring the changes made. I’ve been working on my all-time songs list for the poll BleuPanda is hosting, and I don’t even know where to begin to thank you for the discoveries I’ve made through the expanded list from 3000 to 6000 songs and the Spotify playlists that came with it.
Take it easy and do the update when you’re ready.

Henrik, sorry to hear about your health and hope you get better soon. I can try to help, i don't think I'll be very much help but anything to help you and this site i'm all for. i've learned a lot about different genres of music and music I wouldn't normally give a thought to listen since I've been here and I'm glad i did and I owe all of that to this site. Most importantly I hope you get the help you need and get better.
Re: AM UPDATE 2015
I hope you're feeling better as soon as possible, Henrik. From my point of view it would be better to postpone indefinitely any update until you feel considerably better. In the site we still have to hear a lot of music from the last update, we have many games to play and a lot of music to discuss. Thank you for the confidence to tell your situation. You're a great person, and you have inspired me to my own projects more than what I've said.
You have friends all over the world, and, without hesitation, you know that you can count on us for anything.

Re: AM UPDATE 2015
Very sad news indeed. Henrik, as others said, I may have never met you but I feel affected by your health issues, and I hope you get better soon. Don't hesitate to take as much time as needed to recover, it's more important than any update. AM is already awesome as it is, it has changed my approach to music and, let's say it frankly, my life in ways I would never have expected so many years ago when I first came here.
Anyway I can help, I will. Even financially if things get there. The impact of your work on my life is that deep.

How can I say Henrik, I have no words for you. I just want to say : je pense à toi et te souhaite d'aller parfaitement bien très bientôt. Peu importe ce site, il a beau être admirable, ainsi que la "communauté" qui le compose, il ne serait évidemment rien sans toi.
Merci pour tout.

Re: AM UPDATE 2015
Take good care of yourself, Henrik! I would happily trade any and all future updates for your good health. AM first caught my eye because of the incredible all-time lists you put together; but I started participating because of the friendly atmosphere you've created and maintained, and all the wonderful people that it has brought to the site. Please focus on your health and don't give the site update a second thought. As everyone else has said, I can't quantify the effect you've had on my life, since music is my lifelong passion and AM has brought the best of it to me. Thank you for everything and please keep us posted regarding your health. I pray you feel better soon!
Re: AM UPDATE 2015
Henrik, I can only add my voice to the chorus of best wishes. I, too, suffer from chronic back pain although, from what I read, nothing like yours may be, and in my case being entirely self-inflicted through a lifetime of poor decisions. I offer you my empathy expecting none in return.
I am also perhaps unique among your on-line friends in being entirely content with the years of past updates, none of which I have explored adequately, so take all the time you want and need.

Re: AM UPDATE 2015
Sorry to hear about this, Henrik. I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to deal with an undiagnosable problem. Here's to hoping for a quick and speedy recovery.
To reiterate what others have said, this site already offers more than enough information to satiate us for years. After the last update, my fiancee and I started listening to the Top 6000 songs, starting at #6000...we've only made it to #3200 so far! The fun that we've had listening to and debating the lists has been invaluable, and it's all thanks to you.

Re: AM UPDATE 2015
Sorry Henrik for not taking part here before, I wanted to talk first with the rheumatologist of my Hospital. I knew about your health problems from private mails but I didn't know about this worsening on the last months. I'm really sad to know that but, like the others before me, I would like to send to you the courage to go through these difficult times, the gratefulness for all the love and effort you put on the site and, of course, my best wishes for a prompt recovery.
As I told, I've been talking about ankylosing spondylitis with a specialist. It's true that in a case of progressive pain in the back in a male of your age it's a condition that should be checked (even if the pain in the plant of the feet is not usually associated). It's a condition commonly underdiagnosed (the average lag-time between onset of disease and diagnosis is between 8.5 years and 11.4 years according to an article quoted in Wikipedia). And that's because there is not a specific test, the typical findings on the X-ray of the spine appear late on the evolution of the disease and the genetic testing (mainly HLA B-27) is not specific. The rheumatologist told me that today the main diagnostic tool is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) because it detects the disease in earlier stages. She told me also that biologic drugs (TNFα antagonists) like Adalimumab had recently changed drastically the prognosis of the disease, improving a lot the pain and inflammation. The problem of these drugs (and also the problem with MRI) is that they are extremely expensive and their use in public health systems is under strict control.
So in my opinion you should go to your doctor (preferably a rheumatologist) and express your concerns about a possible ankylosing spondylitis. You should definitely be checked with a MRI of the spine and be treated with biologic drugs if necessary. Sorry if I sounded paternalistic or something but I really would like to see improving at last after all these years of suffering.
Best wishes, Henrik!!

Re: AM UPDATE 2015
Thanks everyone for your kind words!!
And thanks Honorio for your effort once again to talk to your colleagues to try and help me! It's not actually a worsening overall during the last few months, but rather a slow shift from the severe feet pain to a more moderate pain in my whole body, making computer work more difficult but other things easier. 2015 is definitely better than 2014.
The public health care in Sweden is complicated. I have booked an appointment with my doctor in general medicine but need to wait until she comes back after summer holiday (early August). Then I hope she agrees with me and sends me to a rheumatologist. The biologic drugs sound promising and the good thing with our health care is that you only pay up to a rather low maximum price per year for drugs, so it almost doesn't matter to me if they would put me on a cheap or expensive drug (however they will hesitate more before doing the latter). They did a normal x-ray of my spine in 2011 that didn't show anything unusual, but I will ask for an MRI.
Thanks again!

One thing I am wondering - Henrik, do you have the list of 2014 albums that will be added yet? I was going through my 2014's and realized how curious I'm getting.
(But please, whenever you do post anything - do it in a new thread. Our poor hearts can't take the excitement.)

As for the pre-2014 albums and songs, Henrik mentioned earlier that his health was making that part (time-consuming in his own words) troublesome, and that he might skip them for this year. It is not yet known whether he ultimately managed to add some.
