Thanks pauldrach and Federico!

I have questions about both John Coltrane songs.
"Ascension" is in Jens Balzer's list but not among the 222 songs. Is there an explanation for this?
Are there any details on which song that is mentioned from the "A Love Supreme" album? "Part 1: Acknowledgement", "Part 2: Resolution" or "Part3: Pursuance/Part 4: Psalm"?

Yes, there is an explanation. I forgot to include it, sorry, "Ascension" is part of the list.

There were no details about "A Love Supreme".

But then there are 223 songs!? And I just discovered "Ascension" by chance, when I searched for "Coltrane" on this page. Could there be a lot of other songs missing?

Henrik, you're right. It's a little bit complicated. They called the book 222 Songs, cause they published it to celebrate the 222th edition of the magazine. 23 writers made their top ten lists. 223 Songs are described in the book, one of them as a "bonus track". This is "Ascension" by John Coltrane. Another song I previously had included was Velvet's "I'm waiting for the man", because it's part of the list of Bernd Gockel, but not described in the book. So we should have 224. Now I noticed, that Stones' "Gimme Shelter"is included in another writer's list, but also not described in the book. So we can add that. Now we have 225.

And we definitely have 5 clashes: Farmer in the City, Jumpin Jack Flash, Starman, Sea Song and Don't want to know if you are lonely. In the book they claim to have 7 clashes. That's the reason for the little confusion.

We have to add:

John Coltrane: Ascension
The Rolling Stones: Gimme Shelter

Townes Van Zandt's "Kathleen" is another one.

Yes, that's right. I didn't see "Gimme Shelter" is described in the book. My fault.
