Acclaimed Music Madness: Round 2B
Acclaimed Music Madness: Round 2B
Acclaimed Music Madness: Round 2A
This begins the second half of the second round of the Acclaimed Music Madness tournament. It features the Memphis and Detroit regions. This poll will close around 11am EST (4pm GMT) Sunday.
For each matchup, indicate which artist you prefer and then assign that artist a score between one and three using the following scale:
1 - you feel the same about both artists, but have a slight preference for one or the other (e.g., you like both artists but prefer artist A over artist B).
2 - you clearly prefer one artist over the other, but you do not dislike the losing artist (e.g., you like one artist and are indifferent to the other).
3 - you like/love one artist and dislike/hate the other.
Please remember to have at least a passing familiarity (i.e., listen to a couple of their songs) with each artist. To accommodate this, I have prepared three-song playlists for each artist which can be accessed via the link at the bottom of the post.
Matchups:
Memphis Region
1) Bob Dylan
8) Ray Charles
5) R.E.M.
4) The Rolling Stones
6) Michael Jackson
3) Stevie Wonder
10) Pink Floyd

Detroit Region
1) Radiohead
8) OutKast
12) The Beach Boys
4) Johnny Cash
6) James Brown
3) Bob Marley
7) David Bowie
2) Marvin Gaye
Results will be posted in the Acclaimed Music Madness results thread (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2192).

Re: Acclaimed Music Madness: Round 2B
1) Bob Dylan: 3 (I quite like Ray, but Bob is so far out of his league that I reckon a 3 is warranted)
8) Ray Charles
5) R.E.M.
4) The Rolling Stones: 1 (Painful match-up, #2 versus #6)
6) Michael Jackson: 1 (About as close as the previous one, just a little further down my list, #29 vs. #45)
3) Stevie Wonder
10) Pink Floyd: 2 (I really love Tubular Bells, but Pink Floyd is just better in every single way)
15) Mike Oldfield
1) Radiohead
8) OutKast: 2 (OutKast has a lot of songs I really enjoy and the early albums are among the best in hip-hop, Radiohead on the other hand has pretty much only 1 song I enjoy)
12) The Beach Boys
4) Johnny Cash: 1 (I'm not too pleased with how these brackets turned out, two more of my favorites in one bracket)
6) James Brown
3) Bob Marley: 1 (This choice was much easier several years ago and might even have been a 2 or 3, but I've really started to warm to James a lot more lately)
7) David Bowie: 1 (On a song-basis these guys are pretty evenly matched, but Bowie just has much better albums)
2) Marvin Gaye
8) Ray Charles
5) R.E.M.
4) The Rolling Stones: 1 (Painful match-up, #2 versus #6)
6) Michael Jackson: 1 (About as close as the previous one, just a little further down my list, #29 vs. #45)
