Setherex, thanks for taking this thread on. And thanks to everyone for agreeing to the modest changes to the rules to enable some new blood; although I think Tune-yards, EMA, possibly Fennesz and at least one Swans track will be here for the max'm ten weeks as well.

My nominations for Week 16 are Keb' Mo' "The Worst Is Yet to Come"; and Margot and the Nuclear So and So's "Hello, San Francisco".

Did my nomination for Chandelier not get in? :(
Well if it meant The War on Drugs didn't get back in, then don't worry about it. But if it hasn't been done already I'd like to nominate it again for next week.

Sorry it didn't make the cut this week Timmy! If it's any consolation, it will most definitely be included next week. And good too, considering it's one of my favorite songs of recent ^_^

Hello guys!

I'm sorry for the sudden disappearing, my computer crashed and I was so busy at work that I forgot to take a few minutes to enter the forum. I'm happy to see this hasn't got on the way of the chart! I love the fact that it is evolving. I'm gonna try and catch up to it, now that I have my PC back.

1. Broken Twin - Sun Has Gone

Secondly, I nominate the following nice Dutch dance song:
2. Di-Rect - You & I

Anyone else who agrees with me that this is the strongest week so far?

I'm pleasantly surprised by the votes for "Rise Like a Phoenix".

First-time AMF Chart Voter. I whittled it down to 6 and had a really hard time with the final cut. This is a great project; thanks to all involved.

Nominations (EDITED):
The Both (Aimee Mann + Ted Leo) - Milwaukee
Lykke Li - No Rest for the Wicked

Yes, totally agree with you that this week is very strong.

If anybody is looking for a best practice for getting to the 5 votes, I just started to use a new method that I am all excited about:
1) listen to all the (remaining) songs in competition
2) pick 1 song as the best to vote for
3) pick 3 songs that will not continue in competition
4) repeat steps 1 to 3 until no songs are left

In this way, there are 5 listening rounds, each round 4 songs less.
So far, I have done only 2 rounds. Conchita not voted yet, but still in competition.

I think I'll try your method. I find it amusing.

My current method is very bad: almost always give the vote to the new songs. Even sometimes give my vote to the songs that are less points because I feel sorry for them ... So if you see songs with one point surely is mine

Yes! There were at least ten different songs vying for my vote (although "Rise Like a Phoenix" was not one of them).

Thanks a lot. It's great isn't it! If no one has voted for it I'll also nominate The Breakdown by Prince.

On a different week I might nominate Love Never Felt So Good (the revamped version without Justin Timberlake) by Michael Jackson. Maybe not the best song of the year so far but it's easily one of the catchiest.

FYI, Brad, Seasons (Waiting On You) is back in my top 5, so I voted the song again. :happy-partydance:

I like the last Todd Terje album and Roxy Music, but the "Johnny and Mary" cover was not my cup of tea from the beginning. After a few weeks I started to dislike it and now I don't even want to hear it anymore.
I don't get it, but how come this song is marching so easily towards the Hall of Fame? What is so special about it?

That's what I think.

In my opinion it is the worst song on the album. A huge stumbling. It should not make a version of a song to make a so boring and unimaginative thing.

I do not understand the success of this song in our AMF Chart

I don't usually care for covers, but "Johnny and Mary" is a rare case where I've never really cared for the original, but the song turned into a huge favourite with Todd and Bryan. Add to that, that the song also borrows a lot from Vangelis "Chariots of Fire", another song I've never liked much but here those "drum waves" sounds marvellous.

The production might be the best I have ever heard and Bryan's hoarse voice gives the song a great deal of dignity. Like sitting in the knee of a cozy grandaddy who tells a story from the past.

Edit: It's not really a good story, but the song still gives me a cozy feeling.

Thanks, Henrik, for giving your opinion to this song!

I guess, Otisredding and myself find it a bit too cozy too handle...
