I'm going to cut and paste the discussion we had about jasmine.4.t on the MCCh thread.

I listened to the jasmine.4.t one a couple of weeks ago. Went into it thinking the singer might be trans as it gives off that vibe with the name and artwork. As soon as the vocals kicked in I thought, "yeah that sounds like a bloke".
I couldn't listen to it after that. Sorry, maybe it's just me.

NARRATOR: "It was, in fact, just him."
I have some news about Ethel Cain that might surprise you, also.

Well, discord, jasmine.4.t is a trans girl. So what? If you can't listen to her music, it's up to you. But maybe it's better to stop this discussion now before it slides into transphobic territory.

Re: Discussing transphobia
This will be the only post I make in this thread, but I was moved to say that it makes me very sad.
In the early 2000s, I met a friend where I worked who had a trans sister. And you know what? It wasn't a big deal to anyone because a certain political party - and particularly their heartless, soulless, monstrous leader - hadn't make it into an issue yet.
My current friend has a trans son, and he has to suffer the bigotry and hatred that nobody should need to simply because a certain political party - and particularly their heartless, soulless, monstrous leader - have targeted the trans community (and immigrants) to distract from the fact that they are totally useless and idealess when it comes to solving actual issues that affect us all. Being true to who you are is not an issue. And it shouldn't be anybody else's business.
Sad, scary times we live in when the powerful attack the people most in need of protection.

Re: Discussing transphobia
I re-watched Todo Sobre Mi Madre last week. Great film and I liked it just as much as the first time.
It's a pitty that an incredible interesting, mind opening and complex subject like transness can't be discussed in a way from which all parties involved can learn by respectfully presenting AND receiving varying perspectives.

Thank you for moving this, Honorio.
I personally know that I do not wish to be on a forum where statements like “Trans women are women” is considered debatable, so I’m happy to see so many people chiming in. Transphobia is unacceptable now and always, but this point must be emphasized further now in times like these that are so trying for trans rights.

Re: Discussing transphobia
It probably isn't a well known fact outside of the UK, as I suspect the rest of the world doesn't pay a great deal of attention to what the UK does (despite what we tend to think here), but a few weeks ago the Supreme Court ruled that gender was determined by biological sex at birth. I struggle to think of anything that those in charge of this country have done that has made me more sad, and there is plenty to choose from. Whilst other countries' administrations try to move them back to the dark ages of intolerance, for some reason I thought it couldn't happen here. Since the ruling, various people have crawled out from under their stones to claim that this was a victory for common sense, and that they had been proved right. I feel desperately sad for anyone who has had their life made worse by this ruling, and by society's shift away from tolerance in general. To anyone who agrees with the ruling I would say: Imagine if you were told that your identity, as you had always known it, was wrong, and imagine how you would feel? Imagine how you would feel when more and more people piled on to tell you how wrong you were, and how you couldn't possibly know your own mind as well as they can.
Sorry to go on about this, but I've not had much opportunity to express my feelings about this, and what is a forum for if not to express your feelings? I'm relieved to see that most people on this forum think the same about this as me - I'd far rather be in the majority on this subject than, for example, how good the last Charli XCX album was.

That makes no sense whatsoever. What about intersexuals?
