Rolling Stone (Br) - 100 maiores discos da música brasileira

This list is already in AM, with the name: Rolling Stone (Brazil) - The Top 100 Brazilian Albums (2007), linking to http://rateyourmusic.com/list/sallamank ... an_albums/, but the link is broken now.

The choice of the "top 100" was based on the sum of votes of 60 scholars, producers and journalists from the Brazilian music scene. Each of the voters chose 20 albums, no order of preference, which, according to Rolling Stone, should be based on criteria such as "intrinsic artistic value and historical importance, ie, as the album influenced other artists."

Hi Blanco,

I must take more time to dig all these Rolling Stone lists. I might believe incorrectly that they all suffer from the same old-acts bias the English Rolling Stone suffers from, but they always constitute an interesting start. One of my personal favourite act (Soda Stereo) was brought to my attention by looking at the Rolling Stone Argentina list, and I don't regret it!

In the spirit of what you are currently doing, I suggest something, how about doing a grouped repost of all the international Rolling Stone lists? I think it would make a great complement, and most of all easily accessible, to Rolling Stone's classic 500 albums list.

So far, there are the following I've heard of:

- Rolling Stone Italy's 100 dischi italiani più belli di sempre

I believe almost all of them have already been posted somewhere sometime in the history of the AM forum. That's just a suggestion though, but I do enjoy this little tracking of lists. I might be somewhat geeky. Anyway, thanks for the reposts, it gives me back the envy of exploring foreign stuff, I had slowed down on that lately.

Thank you very much for your comments. I also think that in the different versions of Rolling Stone there is often a tendency for older artists, yes (At least in the lists I know). This maybe also creates the idea that there is no good music these days. (That there is, yes there is.)

Soda Stereo is one of my favorite acts too! I would even say that if there were an average in the style of Acclaimed Music but only with Latin American music, they would be the artist in the first place.

I found your suggestion a very good idea. I do not know any website where these lists are compiled on a single page. (Perhaps there is, I do not know.) But still, if that collection were here, that would bring many visitors to Acclaimed Music Forum and Acclaimed Music in general, and that could translate into more users in the forum, and therefore more lists from more parts of the world, and more wealth of tastes and genres, etc.

Unfortunately, I have not much free time lately. I maybe could do it at some next weekend, but I can not be sure. So if you or anyone else wanted to do it before, that would be great.

And yes, so far, I believe Soda Stereo are the best Spanish-speaking band I've listened to. I have even bought Canción animal. If you are interested in exploring French rock music, the big four in my opinion are Alain Bashung (there is very good stuff in the 80s, but I suggest beginning in the 90s), Serge Gainsbourg (post-1967 for the rock side, but his chanson side was good too), Téléphone (everything, but the two last albums are the best) and Noir Désir (everything too, the quality and style varies from album to album).

You're welcome, the task was tedious at times but I had some fun doing it, it was an interesting (although superficial) overview of these countries on the musical side.
