Loreen - Euphoria: 6

I pay so little attention to EuroVision that I could easily get through the year without hearing the winner, but I do know this one. I feel had more success than the average winner to break outside the usual EuroVision circles. It's a pretty solid pop song that even though it isn't in my taste does nothing to push me away. I think it helps that the song fully commits to the feeling of euphoria as promised in the title.

You’re damn right I should’ve been the biggest fan, and I’m kinda shocked that of all the Eurovision songs on my list, this isn’t one of them. It’s not my favorite Eurovision song ever, but I absolutely get why it was so important to the overall musical evolution of the contest and why fans love it dearly to this day. It helped Sweden get their mojo back, and it still really holds up. I give it a 9.

Also, you don’t capitalize the “v” in Eurovision.

I agree. When you wrote "Eurovision", "v" is in lowercase while "e" in the first alphabeth of the word is in uppercase.

Some good eighties synthpop. On the verge of being tacky, but unexpectedly atmospheric.

I'm sorry, Wisnu, I don't want to do this, but at the moment I can not keep counting your votes, since I have no reason to believe you vote according to the rules of the game, even if these rules aren't all that strict. I don't understand your votes and your comments even less. This pains me, but this just isn't working.

I think, it depends on their rating. However, because "Euphoria" was Loreen's biggest hit single and also one of the greatest songs in the Eurovision catalogs, I'm so wrong. It's just a good song.

Synthpop that sounds half like it belongs into an energetic movie soundtrack and half on an ambient album. Interesting mix.

I think, it depends on their rating. However, because "Euphoria" was Loreen's biggest hit single and also one of the greatest songs in the Eurovision catalogs, I'm so wrong. It's just a good song.
This song could be the number-one hit of the century. It doesn't matter. If you honestly don't like "Euphoria," you won't be crucified for saying so (if anything, you would sadly be in agreement with a lot of the voters here). If you do enjoy it as a song, not as a hit or a Eurovision winner, give it a good score.

A personal example: "Everything I Do (I Do It for You)" by Bryan Adams is one of the biggest hit singles of all time. Went to #1 in 19 countries, including his native Canada and my native USA. I think it is a pile of garbage. I'd give it a 2. I don't care if it was a huge hit single. As a song, I dislike it.

Similarly, one of my favorite songs of all time is "I Wish I Was the Moon" by Neko Case. That song didn't chart anywhere. It wasn't even released as a single. It isn't even ranked high enough to show up on Acclaimed Music's rankings, and I'm almost positive I was the only person who voted for it in the last all-time songs poll. It's not from her most critically-acclaimed album (probably Fox Confessor Brings the Flood) or her most commercially-successful album (probably Hell-On). I'd still call it a 10/10 magnificent song.

Today not a bubbler or ranked song, but a song that in a way has never officially been released. How do you like that?

455. Keiichi Suzuki & Hirokazu Tanaka - Inakunarinasai (A.k.a. Pokey Means Business*)
Year: 1994
From the game: Mother 2/ Earthbound**
Biggest Fan: Ordinaryperson (#596)
The song on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLR4mnndnj0
* The title Pokey Means Business is a fan name. The song never got an official translated name, but the fan name has become popular and is also how Ordinaryperson named it.
** As far as I can tell there has never been an official release of this song outside of its game. The year is also the game year.

Keiichi Suzuki & Hirokazu Tanaka - Inakunarinasai (A.k.a. Pokey Means Business): 8

Far from pathetic, but a masterclass in composing for the very limited 16-bit capabilities of the SNES gaming console. Perhaps you have to have played games from the era to truly appreciate such a thing, but although I have not played Earthbound (although I mean to), I just feel the build-up and eventual menace of this composition. It's also a surprisingly dynamic track for the era, with shifts in melody and tone. Great stuff!

These lyrics could have been U2 or some similar band and could have seem self-absorbed, but with this gentle, yet optimistic delivery it becomes something more genuine.

Weird thought: that background female (?) choir going "That electri-ic-ic-ic" may be my favorite Gorillaz thing ever. There is something cool about this whole song in general.
