Namely To Be a Lover, which we covered in October, making this the first time we've had two versions of the same song on Biggest Fan. Historic!

393. Sandi Thom – What If I’m Right: 4
394. Guiseppe Verdi – Nabucco, Act 3: Va, pensiero, sull’ali dorate - 8
395. Moby - Flower - 8
396. Freddie King – Takin’ Care of Business - 7
397. Luna - That's What You Always Say - 10 - yes, Dean Wareham's voice is VERY similar to Lou Reed, not a surprise when Galaxie 500 was branded THE VU's spiritual offspring. He can't sing very well - but I find the instrumentation on this cover far better than the original, and it had the added benefit of making me discover this fine song.

Ah, yes the follow-up single to Royals. It was a success of course, but it's acclaim was far less and it seems in hindsight some other songs from Pure Heroine were preferred. I was really into Royals myself at the time and Team came along with it, as it is close in theme (being proud of the little you have along with some criticism of modern music). I haven't really listened to it much or at all, since 2014 or so (in contrast to Royals, which is a deserved modern classic), but coming back to it now it sounds better than I remembered. It's great, catchy and even if it isn't as original as Royals, it still sounds fresh. It is a bit precious in a teenage way, but earnest. A fine re-discovery.

Re: Biggest Fan - February 2020
Pink Floyd - The Trial 8 Probably no one has a lit a fat one to this or tested out their stereo with this or yelled this as a request at a concert- it's not a stereotypical Floyd tune in other words, not that it matters. It's a shamelessly theatrical, high-kicking romp.
William Bell - I Forgot to Be Your Lover 6 The doleful sax almost pushes it to a 7 but it seems to somehow drift and end prematurely, whereas the whole package is too smooth for me to feel what drama is surely intended.
Zoot Woman - Living in Magazines 7 The chugging synth really draws me into this, even though the lyrics aren't compelling. A few listens have me mesmerised by the melody.
Franz Ferdinand - Outsiders 5 FF were truly the trap artists of 00s indie- when they ran out of vocal hooks, out came the ad-libs. I do love some of their stuff but the "Woah-oh-oh"'s can't save this.
Lorde - Team 7 The song peaks in the first verse but that verse shows how gifted Lorde can be at giving voice to all small-town teenage outsiders. Musically, it's soothing while making you wish it would aim higher.

This just has a very dreamy vice that seems to agree with this very day for me.

I quite enjoy this track as well, but I had actually listed Luv(Sic) Part 3 on my list! Sorry for the confusion - they're very easy tracks (six of them!) to get confused.

Alright, you basically get two songs today, because of my stupid mix-up of yesterday. Here is the actual 404th song:

Year: 2015
Released as a single
Biggest Fan: Acroamor (#384)
Note that I only count votes for this version, obviously, so please re-vote if you already rated part 2.

Removed this from my all-time list. Chorus is too monotonous.

Pretty much the same reaction as yesterday.
405. Future, featuring Pharrell Williams, Pusha T & Casino – Move That Dope: 6
Shouldn't be my taste, but although I'm not gripped by it, I find it fun enough for three listens. A rare case were the revolving door of guests works for me and makes it more than it initially seems; I'm more used to it breaking the flow.

The playlist in this topic’s first post is visible to me. Was it just a temporary problem?

Yes, it's back here too.
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - Technically, Missing: 7
I liked the film Gone Girl quite a bit when it came out, but in contrast to The Social Network (same director, same composers), I never actually checked the soundtrack on it's own and don't remember noticing it in particular while the film played. Outside of a few big tunes film soundtrack picks are a rarity in games like this, so this struck me as original, although for it's type it has a surprising amount of plays on Spotify. It's a very good mood piece, with both movement and suspense, if not something I would put among the best the genre has to offer, as it lacks the transcendental feel that the best soundtracks offer.
By the way, there is no way I will be able to update this poll's top 100 this weekend, but next weekend I should have plenty of time, so you can catch up with this game or change votes until then.

406. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross – Technically Missing - 8 : I'm getting more into Reznor's and significant other soundtrack work. It feels like a more mellow yet menacing work than NIN stuff.

Dio – Holy Diver: 7
One of those metal songs that is close to cheese, but hits a sweet spot. Not as all-encompassing amazing as, say, the best or Iron Maiden, but people who like metal should like this and since this has something of a classic status, they seem to love it.

Re: Biggest Fan - February 2020
Nujabes - Luv(Sic) Part 3 6 Genuinely improvised-sounding freestyle bringing some complementary contrast to the polished piano, which could pass for an acid-jazz reimagining of Clocks by Coldplay.
Future, featuring Pharrell Williams, Pusha T & Casino - Move That Dope 5 Impressive to hear Future outclass Push in the lyrical stakes for once (even if he does rhyme Maserati with itself) and it's amusing this was effectively Pharrell's followup to the clean-cut Happy. However expensive the production sounds, though, PlasticRam wasn't wrong about it getting more wearying with every listen.
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - Technically Missing 6
Undulating if not fully pulsating, it seems to play with its sense of space becoming by turns roomy and claustrophobic. I just wouldn't listen to it as a standalone track and I think I'd struggle to remember it from Gone Girl after watching it again in contrast with the soundtrack from, say, Uncut Gems, which I'd be able to recognise a week after seeing it.
Dio - Holy Diver 10 This rides right through the realm of ridiculousness to sheer gloriousness, one of the first metal songs I got into and it still makes me want to run through a mediaeval forest swinging a mace around my head. Currently #558 on my tentative AT list.

Very pleasant piano piece that became famous thanks to the film Amélie (but contrary to popular perception was not written for it). It's very likable, but doesn't stick out to me like some other Amélie tracks.

Neil Young returns for his third song here, but this song might not come from one of his more expected albums - unless the nominator had the Unplugged version in mind. It is also the second song this week coming from PlasticRam (the new Hymie?):

Neil Young – Transformer Man: 9
Yeah I had the original Trans version in mind.
I believe this song is about Neil's disabled son, Ben, with Cerebral Palsy. When talking to Ben using a vocoder, he reacted more strongly than to Neil’s regular voice.

Neil Young doing Kraftwerk? As unlikely as it sounds, it works. Young has a voice that surprisingly fits well with electronics. Sometimes it is too high-pitched, which keeps it just from getting an 8 from me. Might even want to check out the album. I actually expected a disaster.
