Is Chance the Rapper's Acid Rap excluded for being a mixtape or is it an issue of number of reviews ?

I guarantee that the Vampire Weekend album will be in the top 5 by the next update. Maybe even the top 3. That album's got hype.

Brilliant list, thank you thank you! I'm keeping up a lot better with how albums change perspective over the course of this year than past years.

Thank you for the full 100 list afterwards as well. I hope it's not too much trouble to post, but it is extremely interesting to look at ^_^

This is possible, but there are some European website which scored low: Gaffa-sw, Laut ...

Thanks, Otis. This update just confirms what a great month it has been. Surprised that Daft Punk is nowhere to be found yet, but I suspect that its low scores brought it down. It has received some great, great reviews but also some pretty bad ones.

I'm confused by one thing, Otis. On April 30, Shaking The Habitual had 26 reviews and was 80.5. Today, still with 26 reviews, it has jumped to 82.6. Was it miscalculated last time? This time? Did your formula change? Typo?

I post the score of Tiny Mix Tapes with "0" points, but now I've read the review and I checked it was a error because "and That simply will not register on a scale of one to five."

Interestingly, Jenesaispop has taken the same solution:

Thank you, Henrik

In my opinion, MCCH has a value that does not have some sites that obviously have more resources than I (ADM, Metacritic, AOTY). MCCH is based on websites around the world, although I like to find new sites in Brazil, Australia, Holland, Japan, Mexico, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina, Portugal, Russia ........... .................................................. ...... :o

My algorithm, which uses your data in addition to Metacritic, Any Decent Music, and AlbumoftheYear.org and includes a weighting system based on number of reviews, produces the following list, in case anyone is curious:

1. My Bloody Valentine - MBV
2. Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City
3. The Knife - Shaking the Habitual
4. James Blake - Overgrown
5. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push the Sky Away
6. David Bowie - The Next Day
7. Deerhunter - Monomania
8. Savages - Silence Yourself
9. Kurt Vile - Walkin' On A Pretty Daze
10. Yo La Tengo - Fade
11. The Flaming Lips - The Terror
12. Parquet Courts - Light Up Gold
13. Iceage - You're Nothing
14. Mikal Cronin - MCII
15. Matthew E. White - Big Inner
16. Phosphorescent - Muchacho
17. John Grant - Pale Green Ghosts
18. Pissed Jeans - Honeys
19. The Haxan Cloak - Excavation
20. Autre Ne Veut - Anxiety
21. Rhye - Woman
22. Frightened Rabbit - Pedestrian Verse
23. Foals - Holy Fire
24. Grouper - The Man Who Died In His Boat
25. Colin Stetson - New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light
26. William Tyler - Impossible Truth
27. Unknown Mortal Orchestra - II
28. Youth Lagoon - Wondrous Bughouse
29. Foxygen - We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic
30. Atoms For Peace - Amok
31. Marnie Stern - The Chronicles of Marnia
32. Ghostface Killah & Adrian Younge - Twelve Reasons To Die
33. Low - The Invisible Way
34. Local Natives - Hummingbird
35. Bilal - A Love Surreal
36. DJ Koze - Amygdala
37. Mountains - Centralia
38. Thee Oh Sees - Floating Coffin
39. Torres - Torres
40. Iron & Wine - Ghost On Ghost
41. Daughter - If You Leave
42. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
43. The National - Trouble Will Find Me
44. Caitlin Rose - The Stand-In
45. Toro Y Moi - Anything In Return
46. Waxahatchee - Cerulean Salt
47. Everything Everything - Arc
48. Phoenix - Bankrupt!
49. The Men - New Moon
50. Villagers - {Awayland}

Of course, once you post your next update, this list will change quite a bit. I have no doubt that Daft Punk will hop into the top 10 as it has reached #42 without any points from you yet. The National are in the same situation, currently sitting at #43. Laura Marling will also make a strong showing I've no doubt, but more reviews need to pour in and she needs to be ranked on Albumoftheyear.org as well. Currently sitting at an 8.5 on AnyDecentMusic is very impressive

Interesting work, Montauk, but your list is way too US/UK dependent now. I like MCCh because it uses a smattering of sources from all over the world. Quality and diversity vs quantity.

Oh it is definitely US and UK dependent as MC and ADM only use sources from the US and UK. I'm not as interested in the worldwide results anyway. Besides, I can just get those from here! Whereas these results might reflect worldwide opinions more, mine is more comprehensive in that it aggregates aggregators and uses far more sources. That said, this website is incredible and I certainly would not compare my ability to make a spreadsheet to this site. Also, currently my spreadsheet has 527 albums on it so though the top batch is US/UK-centric, moving further down shows a lot of variety. It's actually already changed some since I posted that list!
