AMF Survivor, Season 1, Best Albums of the 2010s, Episode 1!

Post by Holden »

Welcome to Season 1 of AMF Survivor! In this, you will have three days to vote for an album to be eliminated from the game, from the (current) top 16 albums of the 2010s, to honor the end of the decade. You will get two votes, until the "merge" at ten albums remaining, when you will only get one vote. Next week, the remaining albums will be voted upon until one remains. Should there be a tie, then there will be a one day long tie-breaker vote. Please remember, you are voting to get rid of one of these albums from the list. Here are your options for the poll above! You have seven days to vote!
1. Kanye West-My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (64)
2. Kendrick Lamar-To Pimp A Butterfly (138)
3. Frank Ocean-Channel Orange (154)
4. Kendrick Lamar-good kid, m.A.A.d. City (160)
5. PJ Harvey-Let England Shake (170)
6. Arcade Fire-The Suburbs (178)
7. David Bowie-★ [Blackstar] (179)
8. Kendrick Lamar-DAMN. (188)
9. Sufjan Stevens-Carrie & Lowell (220)
10. Vampire Weekend-Modern Vampires of the City (227)
11. The War on Drugs-Lost in the Dream (238)
12. Beach House-Teen Dream (287)
13. James Blake-James Blake (317)
14. St. Vincent-St. Vincent (320)
15. Radiohead-A Moon Shaped Pool (327)
16. Run the Jewels-Run the Jewels 2 (334)

In lieu of the large amount of polls coming up soon, following this weeks round of voting for this, I will put this idea on hold until a time when people are more available and less focused on other polls.

Not speaking for anyone than myself here and not wishing to overburden you if you do want to lighten your load of polls but I don't see this as taking up a huge amount of people's time, considering it requires just ticking 2 albums for elimination from a list that most have heard in its entirety.

It's your call but I don't expect Honorio was trying to discourage you from holding this game when he was discussing the forthcoming polls.

I’m sorry if it seems like I was but I never assumed that Honorio was attempting to make me stop this game, and now that you bring it up this game is minimal work on all parties, so I will keep it going. Thank you!

Here's the spreadsheet I'm going to be using for this and future AMF Survivor Seasons! Not very exciting now, but I'll post this with every poll in the future, so it'll become more interesting! A note: the vote amounts, for extra fun and getting in the Survivor spirit, have been altered to show now many relative votes they would have if the voting was out of the amount of "contestants" actually voting

Wow - I really thought that Kanye would be far more popular than that ! Streets ahead of the competition in the most likely to be evicted.
Not a bad thing, if you ask me :)

I’m surprised also. Yeah obviously the forum has evolved since 2010, but the other AMF albums of the year are during very well by comparison.

It’s not that it’s not popular. I assume it’s mostly because people don’t think it deserves to be the runaway (no pun intended) No. 1. Same reason The Beatles immediately got voted out in past versions of this format.

Anyone else who looked at the results and just assumed you were supposed to select your favourite albums (and that the albums with the poorest scores would be eliminated)?

Btw, I selected PJ and Sufjan (my favourites).

If multiple people made mistakes in the voting, do you think we should discontinue this specific thread I can start up again with a better version of it with clearer rules? Or should we continue with this one? In all honesty I wasn’t really happy with the presentation of this one anyways and would like to do better.

I don’t know if there was anything wrong with the presentation, I was just lazy. Sorry for that!

That’s alright lol! I think it’ll be good to see this one through upon thinking about it with voting as it is. I have edited the poll so you can change your votes if you would like.

I suppose just keep going with the tiebreaker votes until one is picked, but if anyone has more interesting ideas shoot.

Kanye is the most polarizing artist on this forum. If you run the game by American Idol rules (Least votes is eliminated), I’d expect him to win. By Survivor rules I’d expect him first out.
