This is a very quick and rough draft, and I still don't feel like I have more than 30 songs worth mentioning. I do hope my top 10 all perform well on the year end lists though.

A lot of the best albums of the year have been released by female artists. You should check some of them out before the EOY polls! Might find some gems.

I know i'm late to the party, but I just listened to "Bags" by Clairo multiple times, due to it's high position on the EOY songs spreadsheet so far. I had never listened to Clairo's music before (although I had heard of her), but now it seems like i'm going to have to dig deeper into her discography. "Bags" is the greatest guitar-driven rock track i've heard since "Your Best American Girl" blasted through my speakers in March 2016, and it's instantly become one of my favorite songs of the year. I wish I had heard this song earlier

The heartache in "Bags" is evident in the atmospheric guitar playing and melancholic piano, which flow like a river throughout the song. Clairo's soft vocals, which recall artists such as Mitski and Snail Mail (but is yet unique in it's own singular elements) give the song a convincing and emotional pleading for things not to fall apart, with a hope still put forward that those things are still worth saving. Hearing this song is like watching time fade away, knowing that while it's inevitable, it has to move forward. And you know why? Because that's how life works. This simple theory is applied in the style of a break-up anthem, because eventually for all of us, we see ourselves finding someone or something that walks out the door with their bags. And trust me, i know what it's like to keep certain feelings bottled up inside, mainly due to the fear of being ridiculed - or in the words of Clairo, "you'd make fun of me". I also know what it's like to stare at the TV for hours just to keep those things bottled up inside. This is a song which is important because of it's ability to portray a singular thought, which can represent so many different events we have no control of. Bedroom pop turns existential!

It looks like i'm gonna have to check out the entire album soon, because I was blown away by this track. I'm sure many people on this Forum have already heard it (i've already seen forumers put it in their lists), but if you haven't, then this is definitely a must-listen.

Been working on a top 25 for each year of the 10s in the hope that it'd make my EOD list easier to compile. It predictably didn't but here's my one for 2019 as it stands; my final EOY should be much larger:

1. Billie Eilish - bury a friend
2. Foals - In Degrees
3. Kano - Trouble
4. Lizzo - Jerome
5. FKA twigs - Cellophane
6. The Comet Is Coming - Summon the Fire
7. Better Oblivion Community Center - Chesapeake
8. Ibibio Sound Machine - Doko Mien (Tell Me)
9. Amyl and the Sniffers - Got You
10. Lady Leshurr - Horrid
11. Mattiel - Keep the Change
12. Nilüfer Yanya - In Your Head
13. Vampire Weekend - Sympathy
14. Dave - Environment
15. Kim Gordon - Sketch Artist
16. Marika Hackman - the one
17. Little Simz feat. Cleo Sol - Selfish
18. Lingua Ignota - SORROW! SORROW! SORROW!
19. Tame Impala - Borderline
20. Anna Meredith - ribbons
21. Ezra Collective - Quest for Coin
22. Sampa the Great - Final Form
23. Anderson .Paak feat. Brandy - Jet Black
24. Kojey Radical - 20/20
25. Hatchie - Obsessed
All I got inside is vacancy!

Hear hear! "Bags" is bedroom pop at its finest. I just adore the addition of piano in the second half of the song.
