AM Pixar Movies Poll: Voting

Post by Schüttelbirne » Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:59 am

Hello to everyone and welcome to the Pixar Movies poll we talked about.
The procedure is very easy. Rank all of the movies you have seen. We will not include short films, only the following movies:

Toy Story (1995)
A Bug's Life (1998)
Toy Story 2 (1999)
Monsters, Inc. (2001)
Finding Nemo (2003)
The Incredibles (2004)
Cars (2006)
Ratatouille (2007)
WALL-E (2008)
Up (2009)
Toy Story 3 (2010)
Cars 2 (2011)
Brave (2012)
Monsters University (2013)
Inside Out (2015)
The Good Dinosaur (2015)
Finding Dory (2016)
Cars 3 (2017)
Coco (2017)
Incredibles 2 (2018)
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Onward (2020)

The soft deadline is October 15th. If somebody wants/needs more time, let me know and I will adjust the deadline.

For the Disney poll whuntva used the formula 2100/(i+20), where i is the rank of the movie on the ballot. Every voter would also be weighted based on the number of movies on his/her list. This would be possible.
We could also just use the formula and then divide the total score by the number of voters. I don't know if that is mathematically sound, so I would appreciate some input.

Thanks and have fun!

With lists like this I think the best thing to do would be t do the win-loss formula like whuntva did, where unranked films get the average score of all the ranked films added to their score. I already have a template for this that makes it really simple if you wanted to use it.

Danke Schüttelbirne! Here's my ballot (with how each film ranks in my combined Disney/Pixar list in parentheses):

1. The Incredibles (2nd out of 28)
2. Toy Story (5/28)
3. Toy Story 2 (7/28)
4. Up (11/28)
5. A Bug's Life (13/28)
6. Toy Story 3 (16/28)
I just wanna live large and remain though...

I'm really grateful to Pixar. Thanks to them going to the movies with my kids was not only the awful experience I initially expected but even the opposite, usually a rewarding experience. They knew how to make movies with a double reading, I mean in a way the kids saw a movie and the parents a different one. With risky choices like WALL•E, an almost silent movie. Masterful. Even if in my #1 movie the balance was somehow lost, it was a movie more for the parents than for the kids.

1. Inside Out (2015)
2. The Incredibles (2004)
3. WALL-E (2008)
4. Toy Story 2 (1999)
5. Monsters, Inc. (2001)
6. Up (2009)
7. Toy Story (1995)
8. Ratatouille (2007)
9. Toy Story 3 (2010)
10. Cars (2006)
11. Coco (2017)
12. Incredibles 2 (2018)
13. Finding Nemo (2003)
14. A Bug's Life (1998)

As you may notice I have few movies posterior to 2010. My kids grew up and they prefer to go to the movies with their friends, so I only watch a new Pixar movie now and then.
