Films of the 1990s: 1992 (2016 edition)

Post by Petri »

Time for 1992 movies.

The rules:

You can post a list of anywhere between 1 and 20 films (or more, but only 20 will be counted) from the period we're covering. The deciding factor in terms of release dates is the RYM list and the top 15 of each period will go on to the final top 150. The deadline is 30th of September. If you haven't voted for your favorite movies of 1991 there's is still two weeks left to do it.

The points scheme is as follows:
1. 50
2. 40
3. 35
4. 30
5. 25
6. 20
7. 18
8. 16
9. 14
10. 12
11. 10
12. 9
13. 8
14. 7
15. 6
16. 5
17. 4
18. 3
19. 2
20. 1

However, these are the maximum amounts of points. If you want to put certain films on your list but don't want to give them too many points, you can choose to give these less points than in this scheme (but never more) to decrease the impact on the overall results. If you don't specifically state that you want to give (some of) your films fewer points, I will assume the standard scheme.

Here are some lists to remind you of the films released in 1992:

IMDb
RYM
Films101
RottenTomatoes

If you vote for 4 movies or less, this is the adjusted scores:
4 votes
1. Movie 40 p
2. 35 p
3. 30 p
4. 25 p

3 votes
1. Movie 35 p
2. 30 p
3. 25 p

2 votes
1. Movie 30 p
2. 25 p

1 vote
1. Movie 25 p

1. Orlando
2. Romper Stomper
3. Reservoir Dogs
4. Porco Rosso

By the way has anyone heard anything about Gillingham (I don't remember he has skipped a film poll before). Looks like he's been Last active at Wed Aug 17. Hope everything is fine.

:music-rockon: I guess sky is the limit for Verhoeven and now Showgirls will get in too.

I was actually sure for some reason Bitter Moon and Husbands and Wives will qualify, I have seen them after I voted and liked both but didn't change my vote because of that. Definitely can see why these are pretty divisive movies for the star directors, Husbands and Wives is like all Allen is known for done in twice the pace, and Bitter Moon is just messed up.

1. Die zweite Heimat – Chronik einer Jugend
that's my No1 in my "To see list" :music-rockon:

The first serie "Heimat - Eine deutsche Chronik (1984)" was shown last year on TV - it's easily the best serie I have ever seen. I was obsessed for awhile with it

Unfortunately they didn't show 2 and 3 - In fact there was new restored BR version Heimat 1 - now I hope they will do 2 and 3 as well
