This is a truly bizarre list. Kanye and Radiohead are awfully low. I mean, they’re below Tori Amos. I have nothing against Tori but that’s an odd claim.

I feel like Nirvana has to be #1. Radiohead below Janes Addiction is very strange to me...

This has got to be a troll list. Tori Amos is more influential than Radiohead, Kanye, Eminem, Jay-Z, and MICHAEL JACKSON?

And I enjoy the music of Billie Eilish but she's been famous for what? A year and a half? It's way too soon to be calling her one of the most influential artists since 1985.

Assuming Prince and Nirvana are the top 2, here's a short list of artists since 1985 that they've left out:

Metallica, Whitney Houston, Oasis, Coldplay, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Pixies, Sonic Youth, and Arctic Monkeys. All of whom are far more influential than Tori Amos, Billie Eilish, Sublime, No Doubt, Ricky Martin, or the Spice Girls.

Glad the overrated pedo is low.
Nine Inch Nails ruined the good path.

Nirvana is next.

It's the funniest list of the year. They were probably doing meth instead of math before compiling this list. Radiohead at #22? Nirvana at #3?, then who the hell are the top 2?

2. Prince

Nothing is as jarring on this list to me as the implication that third-wave ska has had enough of an impact on modern music to be represented by 2 bands, no offence to either.

Monte and Bruno, I don’t think you will find an agreement, so I suggest you stop this discussion here. Thanks.

If you consider this strictly the past 35 years, I might make more sense for MJ to be that low since it wouldn't count Off the Wall or Thriller.

Was electronic music excluded, or are they just pretending it doesn't exist? No Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Bjork, My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, Daft Punk, Aphex Twin, Burial, Jesus and Mary Chain (in addition to many of the artists named above)? Given all the recent pop artists included, how is Lorde excluded? Truly bizarre stuff.

Sorry, this caught my eye in the first place because I thought it wasn't often we have artist lists but I suppose the AM artist ranks are aggregated based on albums and songs solely. It hadn't occurred to me it wasn't eligible.

As I'm here, I may as well announce the winner:

1. Nirvana!
