2020 First Halves so far

Post by o.m. »

Gee! I've noticed all these half year lists on the site albumoftheyear (almost as good as AM, but hey nobody can beat AM  ) In case someone wants to aggregate all these list during his holidays, please share!

I always wonder what we'd ever do with the load of "best so far" lists that come out every year. That's a ton of lists that fulfill a lot of the same criteria as EOY lists that we've never found use for.

I've got some time today, I can punch them into a spreadsheet.

I have officially typed "Lil" more than I desired to in my entire life, and I'm only on the third list.

If you're drawing up a list just for fun, keeping it out of the official AM rankings then that could be interesting. I would be against taking it any further though.

Given half the lists I've read I'd guess that Fiona Apple would storm into first.

Someone did this for songs last year. Is that going to happen again? I would love to go through both aggregates, but songs especially.

Just curious what was the gap between #1 and #2?

Fiona Apple has 612 while Perfume Genius has 509. For reference check out some of the scores on the end of year spreadsheets as I used that formula, but that’s a pretty huge gap.
