Sure, Henrik. It's your site, and the less work you have to do (and less stress in the process!), the better :)

Edit: The David Bowie list that Paste did is actually a Top 24, so it does meet your criteria, but you don't have to count it if you don't want to.

Thanks Jimmy. I won't include the Bowie list. I will go with 25 or 30 as the limit, and furthermore it would look really odd to include only that particular Paste list just because it has four extra tracks.

I don't think that the updated edition of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die has been included on the roster of album lists to be added. Here are the additions and deletions, from this thread: http://acclaimedmusic.net/forums/viewto ... f=3&t=1321

**************************************************************************************************
A new edition of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die has been published in the UK. There are 10 new additions, all from 2011-2013:

Adele - 21 (2011)
PJ Harvey - Let England Shake (2011)
White Denim - D (2011)
Django Django - Django Django (2012)
Hot Chip - In Our Heads (2012)
Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.D. city (2012)
Frank Ocean - Channel Orange (2012)
Jack White - Blunderbuss (2012)
David Bowie - The Next Day (2013)
My Bloody Valentine - m b v (2013)

The 10 previous entries dropped to make room:

Johnny Cash - American IV: The Man Comes Around (2002)
Lightning Bolt - Wonderful Rainbow (2003)
Morrissey - You Are the Quarry (2004)
Ozamatli - Street Signs (2004)
Bill Callahan - Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle (2009)
Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca (2009)
Fever Ray - Fever Ray (2009)
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest (2009)
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs (2010)
The National - High Violet (2010)

JR, after a lengthy discussion, it seems Henrik has decided to include Details Magazine's 40 Most Influential Records list from 1998, which includes both songs and albums. You can find this list in the Encyclopedia of Popular Song Recordings thread. He has also decided to include the personal Top 20 songs by the author of the book, Steve Sullivan.

I added the Top 20 Songs list to its respective links post, and I added the Details list to the Songs links post (though keep in mind that it contains albums, too). Thanks, Blanco- I mean, JJ. ;)

Added the Nuorgam 2000s list to the songs links post (as I neglected to earlier).

Other recent English-language lists also have been added in the last week or so.

I added the NME 10 Albums... list to the albums-links post.

I also added the Rolling Stone Marley and Nirvana lists, as well as the Musikexpress 700 to the songs-links post.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this already, but... JR, the entire 10 volumes of the 1000 songs in the Encyclopedia of Popular Song Recordings will be included... I believe Henrik has actually already factored them into the next update...? You can more info in the thread of the list.

Henrik, have you hashed out which albums and songs lists from the to-be-added links posts will be included in the update?

Should I add the Mojo Led Zeppelin list, and those Ultimate Classic Rock ones?

Yes, please add them. I can make a post about which lists that will be added, but I might not do it until the beginning of next week.

But wasn't the Vibe list already included to the 2013 update? At least it's showing already on the acclaimedmusic.net with all the other lists.

But I'm terribly sorry if I'm just misunderstanding this thing completely somehow.
I feel like that

Ohhhh- nope, you're right. It's listed as being included. Thanks- I will remove that one. :)

EDIT: Added Ultimate Classic Rock's Rolling Stones list to the songs-links post, as well as Rolling Stone's Michael Jackson list.

Henrik, if it is simply too much to do at this point, then don't worry, but could you maybe post which lists are being added like you said you might do? Again, given all the hard work you put into these lists, as well as your personal life, I understand if you can't though. :)

Hope all is well! :greetings-waveyellow:

A couple of the rock lists, I wasn't sure about, hence I didn't have them with my list. Thanks. :)

Will Freaky Trigger one be included, even with the No. 1 missing? The site still hasn't revealed the No. 1, and I've inquired about it on more than one occasion.

A couple of those also include albums, which returns to the previous inquiry of whether some all-time albums lists also will be added. :greetings-waveyellow: (Thanks in advance for the reply, H)

Thanks for the update, H. 8-)

You listed Zeit among song lists that will be includes, but not albums lists that will be included. That was a list mixing both song and albums (by and large albums, though)- will that listing be added to the albums appearing on the list?

I saw that comment coming, and now I have included the albums on the Zeit list too! :greetings-waveyellow:

Great minds...

RE Freaky Trigger- how do you handle a ranked list such as that, when the No. 1 has yet to be revealed?

I have handled it as every other list, i.e. ranked from 2 to 100. Perhaps some kind of exception should be made for this list, but it's not really a big deal.

I know I am becoming somewhat repetitive with this question, Henrik, and I apologize if I sound rude of aggressive or anything, but I am very curious as to how the expansion of the songs list will affect the artist rankings?

Somewhat unrelated to the purpose of this post, of course...

I still haven't come to that yet, so I don't know. But supposedly artists that are more acclaimed for their songs will advance in the list.

And again, please don't take the artist ranking seriously! I have said that I will use the same weights for albums and songs, to reduce the perception that I'm trying to present "a definitive artist ranking".

OK, Henrik- good to know. :)

I like the artist rankings- it gives a general idea of the most acclaimed acts. Obviously, if you're ranked further down (or not ranked at all), those acts generally are not regarded as a major acclaimed act. (especially if they're from he 90s-on)

For some older acts, though (like from the 50s, 60s and 70s), who may not fare the best on all-time lists, you have to remember that there were far less year-end lists back then than there have been since the 1990s. I keep that in mind for some older acts who are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, whose AM showing may not necessarily match up with its induction status- i.e. Brenda Lee. And there are others.

Oh, don't worry Henrik, I honestly don't take the artist rankings seriously! I always take them with a general grain of salt, specifically, as JR mentioned, when they are from the pre-rock era 1950s and earlier. I was just simply curious with my question, that is all.

As for your wise point JR about the artist rankings for older artists, a certain someone on this forum should definitely consider that before he launches into his tirades...

Yes, that could be helpful. :)

Perhaps after the new update, I'll go and compile a list of all the Rock Hall inductees and their ranking on AM. Of course, as has been discussed before, there are some very acclaimed acts (more "recent"), who have been eligible for the Hall of Fame, who have not been nominated/inducted.

Henrik, RE that 1000 Songs that Rock Your World book- between Amazon and Google Books, I gather you were able to get all of the songs? (each outlet had a page or more missing, but between the two, all were covered)

I don't really remember how I got the whole list, but it's not a problem.
