Jeff Wagner is a veteran heavy metal journalist who was a co-editor for the magazine Metal Maniacs before it ceased publication.

The 50 albums list is an appendix in the book. There are actually 51 entries because as the guy who posted the list on RYM states, Wagner considers two albums by maudlin of the Well as one entry.
